Poll question: Are you tsunami ready?
NORFOLK, Va. Norfolk is the first major city on the East Coast to be certified as ready to react should a deadly tidal wave slam into Virginia's coast.

The city was recently declared tsunami ready by the National Weather Service, joining tiny Indian Harbour Beach in Florida as the only localities on the Atlantic Coast to meet the government's seismic sea wave standards.

Jim Talbot, Norfolk's assistant director of emergency preparedness and response, decided to pursue the federal TsunamiReady certification. That's even though he admits the odds are better for him to hit the Mega Millions lottery than for a tsunami to strike Hampton Roads. (No wonder I've been losing, I've been playing the "Will a tsunami hit today?" game)

The signs will go up next week. And Talbot has begun training emergency workers and those who watch over the beaches, to make sure they recognize signs of impending tsunamis -- such as massive drawbacks of water along the shore.

5. My plan is known as the Chilterns.
The hills among (and atop) which I live.

Plus if a tsunami comes to here - it's got to go through London first, so the whole place is going to be pretty buggered up.

6. I live at 5500 feet above sea level
If a tsunami is going to get us up here, I don't think I'm really going to be worried about trying to survive it -- everything else would pretty much suck.
