my Lost theories (SPOILERS from last night's ep) |
|
Ok, so i have two semi-independent theories about Lost, now that i've seen both the new ep and the recent recap ep.
The First is that the black cloud is a bunch of nanobytes with destructive capabilities and the only thing keeping them on the island is the magnatism in the bunker. If the lostaways don't reset the timer, the magnatism goes away and the nanobytes wreck havoc on the world.
The second is more complicated, what we are seeing is the creation of society and that the main characters now are going to be the government, or rulers of the island. Eventually the focus will be on the other lostaways as they deal with the rulers. Already, the main group has the bunker and all its modern comforts while the rest are outside in bamboo huts. I think something will happen that will cause the main group to isolate themselves in the bunker, thereby giving them complete control over the good food and other amenities not afforded to the other lostaways. I think Locke will become the ruler, as he seems to be the one who most strongly believes in a divine intervention, that he was supposed to come to the island. As seen in Bush and others, those that believe they are truly doing God's will end up as dictators. Some of the main group will refuse to join the government and either join the other lostaways as their opposition leader, or go off in exile with desmond. Locke, or whoever the ruler is, will use the dreaded "others" as a reason that they need a strong ruler, especially one with weapons.
On the DVD, the producers say they have the first 6 years already planned out, if it's true, then this is only the natural way the show can go, without getting too weird. This could end up being an intellectual lesson on not only the creation of society, but on human nature and the rise of totalitarian regimes.

1. I think: "Are you gonna beat me with your Jesus stick?" |

...is the funniest line ever uttered in Lost.

...and don't fall into the "make it up as you go" shit that X-Files fell into.

i was scared that that's where they were going when Kate's horse showed up back in december. Hopefully, we've seen the end of the random creatures showing up and they get into whatever story arch will take us throughout the show's life.
