22. Thats beautiful! Thank You!
They were good hard-working people who did everything they could for their 3 boys.
Dad was the most interesting person I have ever known. An encyclopedic mind. The man knew everything. At least I thought so when I was a kid. Dad would take my brothers and I to anti-war demonstrations during the 60's. He was a reporter and did the stories on them, but he truly knew that Viet Nam was wrong.
He was fired from the Manchester Union Leader in 1960 for being too liberal and writing praising articles on JFK, who he knew personally.

Ma was the daughter of Sicilian immigrants who worked full-time while doing the full-time high school schedule. While all the other Mom's in our baby-boomer neighborhood stayed home and did the coffee circuit, Ma went to School and eventually became a legal secretary. She then landed a job at a ground floor electronics firm where she became personel manager.
This Lady could COOK too! Man I miss her baked eggplant, Lasagna and Veal cutlets.
Ma passed last March. On my Dad's birthday. She died in her bedroom in the house she and Dad built. Dad died in the same room.

Damn I miss them!

51. Our time together enriched my life beyond measure.
We used to go for long rides just to enjoy the beauty in nature. There was this one lil' seafood take-out place down in Key Port, NJ that we would visit all winter long. We'd sit in the car overlooking the water sharing our lunch with the seabirds. We always bought a little extra so we could linger a while longer by the ocean. I still do the same thing today only I haven't visited Key Port in many years. Teddy is with me on my long drives to beautiful places.

Thank you

63. My son.
Born on July 27, 1984 and died August 9, 2003 at the age of 19 in a house fire at his college. He was such a blessing and in many profound ways throughout his life, my greatest teacher. I was so blessed to have him, and the journey beyond his death has been a painful yet beautiful gift.

Peace to all who grieve.

81. Yes, our whole legal community is very much in shock here.
Bill was a great guy, one of the most effective defense lawyers in the state, longstanding board member for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, good liberal Democrat, friend of Hunter S. Thompson (and witness to his "send-off" in August) ... definitely one of the good guys and one of a kind.

85. Thanks SeattleGirl
I'm sorry about your dad, too  - it's tough to lose a parent when you're young. All my life, friends have had their moms to go to for advice with boys or with their kids and I never had that. I feel like I missed learning so much that a girl learns from her mom. Kinda sucks.

People tell me I look like her. That really makes me happy because I think she was beautiful, too.

My grandfather who just passed in August of last year.
This is the last pic of he and I together.

My grandmother, his wife, with whom my grandfather always wanted to be after her death in 1998. Here she is in her younger days.

And finally, but not least, my grandfather who was taken by cancer in 1983 at a far too young age.

121. My father
Died last January. He was born and raised in Iowa, he and his family raised merino sheep and grew corn and soybeans. He was born in a one room house with no Dr. present. They had no electricity and would work the fields at night when the weather was good with a plow an old horse named Charlie and a kerosene lantern. He fought in WWII and was a lifer in the army. Murtha reminds me of him, even the way he holds his hands when he speaks.

My mother and father
