The pain. The fucking pain. I have a message for you:
You'll not get me tonight, as much as you may feel that the night belongs to you.

You'll not win tonight; though I may not have the strength to fight you tomorrow night, I do have just enough energy to keep you at bay this night, and you will not win.

You will not.

8. Thanks, EP, my friend; it has to do with old and inadvisable injuries
that have come back to haunt me.

Small price to pay for the things I've seen and places I've been, but I think I'd trade them for a peaceful life in the 1970s, had I known.

Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 01:18 AM by Redstone
except to make me feel better because of realizing that I have some good friends here...

And don't you for one second think that's not important.

Because it is.

One of my favorite lines from Star Trek (about women)... "ah, the givers of pain... and delight."

Seriously, I feel for ya. The dramatic weather changes certainly can't be making things any better.

Not to worry, Rev; I've gotten through this before, and will again...thanks in no small part to you and the other great DUers.

9. I'm with you
Right now I'm fighting my chronic back pain. Likely not to the extent you're describing but I know EXACTLY what you mean. I have been in that place where I would dread nighttime because that meant one more night without sleep or comfort or relaxation in the least.

I'm with you.

10. I see we're reading the same page tonight...
Both knees have started the Ring Cycle for tonight. No idea why, except that snow is supposedly moving in for tomorrow and Sunday.

And dammit, the one that's been fixed is hurting more than the non-fixed knee.

It'll help me sleep tonight. Along with the positive wishes I've received from other DUers.

Problem is: When it gets like this, I start to remember how I got this way...and that's not a place where we want to go. It isn't.

You're a good friend, and I thak you for being so.

It's been replaced by shit that is more expensive but less effective, so the pharmaceutical companies can increase their profits.

Marijuana would be good but there is no legal money in it.

43. Damn, enough with the codeine man
you're giving me the willies.

I used to get jars of liquid codeine from scripts and mix it with jack Daniels until I nodded off into a ball of drooling nothingness. It is NOT something I would suggest to anyone.

But Damn, I loved me that codeine...

:P

Good gosh, man. I never said it should be mixed with alcohol. I wish I had. But I didn't. ;)

As an adult, I was prescribed CoTylenol once and Percocet once, after having my tonsils out. That is the extent of my personal experience with the stuff.

I was just trying to help Redstone. Now I'm being dogpiled.

39. I hear ya
rain/snow moving in my area today.

that always causes my fibramyalgia to flare up. Neck, shoulder and the back of the head mostly. Elbows and hands not doing very well either.

small blessing though - the restless legs crap didn't join the party last night

I've pretty much tossed the prescription pain meds. I only take them in extreme moments because they knock me on my butt and put me into la-la-land...

Mostly, it's a couple of OTC-IBU's and have my partner "schmear" some "blue goo" on me.

and hope things improve for you.

My empotional pain is nothing, because it recedes eventually and I can choose to numb it in many ways if I wanted.

Physical pain is a whole 'nother ballgame.

All I can do is send you a gentle hug, one that does not hurt the shoulder.

Here if you need me...
