Is this fabulous? Asked to try out for "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy"

Today I was approached by two different Bravo staffers (producers, assistants, or PAs...no idea) and asked to see them tomorrow about possibly going up for a show in the Queer Eye For The Straight Guy series. Apparently they're casting in Vegas and they think an Elvis would be cool. I have to be down there in that part of Vegas tomorrow, anyway, dressed in jumpsuit, so I figure I'll drop by their temporary office in a hotel and see what it's about.

I haven't seen it in a long time, but I watched some of those marathons they have now and then and I think it's a pretty cool show. I'm pretty private, so it may not be a love connection, but I'm thinking it's worth talking to them.

At first I was pretty dubious, but I'm liking the idea more the more I think about it. :D

After all, they always have a happy ending, don't they?

I just hope they don't find out that I'm a lesbian...

Whe I was in there, filling out the forms, they played an episode that had a nudist as the target...pretty funny (I saw part of that show before).

And in the guidelines they say that you'll need to bring identical underwear to wear for the duration of the shoot....so maybe I'll shock my colleagues in my primary (on-the-back-burner) career by running around in my boxer briefs for half the show (actually, given the personalities involved in that career, it'd hardly be a shock). :D

I've been painfully aware of my attraction to women. While other boys were uttering "ewwwwww....a girl," and so on, I was singing to myself "Zhank Heffenzs far leedle gahls." :D

The show's actually pretty good, at least the ones I've seen -- the dudes are funny, but they also know their stuff and some of the stories are pretty touching. If you're style-clueless like me, it can be interesting...not that I'd follow their advice and be a stylin' dude (outside my Elvis thing...that's maximum dress-up time right there), but it's still kinda cool to know and to see some of the fixes that people come up with.

That's the short version. They're shooting in April here. The casting women were really nice (hey, just realized that I did actually get on the casting couch! :o ) and the one who did the major interview and on-camera stuff (had me sing, a capella, and shake my bonbons, too) seemed to like me and seemed to like that the story of how I got to where I am and what I want to do next has dramatic tension (dude, tell me about it). She liked the angle introduced by some of the elements of my life right now.

Who knows.

It was worth a shot, either way. :-)

The really funny thing is that, when I was there, another Elvis walked in who was wearing exactly the same jumpsuit and scarf...of the maybe hundred or so stage suits Elvis had in the '70s, he wore the one I wore. Kinda funny scene in itself. I had a cape on, though, and he didn't...everyone knows that the cape confers magical properties. :P
