I'm going to be off-line for awhile
My parents have agreed to help while I'm unemployed. I filed for assistance 3 weeks ago and cannot even leave a message as the case manager's mailbox is full. I make $100/week at the grocery store and it pays for gas and a little food. I got a check today from my parents for $300. It will pay the gas bill and a part of the electric bill. It will not pay my cable bill, my phone bill or my car insurance drafted monthly. All of those will "bounce" when they hit my checking account. So the cable will be cut off in a few days, as will my phone since it's VOIP.

My parents agreed to help only if I sell everything I own (22 years of my life) and move to Oregon. I refuse to be forced to move to a city I've never lived in to reside in the back bedroom of my parent's house at 44. My daughter will not emotionally survive my leaving. Her anxiety attacks are becoming debilitating and without insurance or even assistance (since I can't get anyone to even call back), she will go without her meds.

Please say your prayers for me. I've tried so hard to be upbeat and get on with my life but I'm drowning.

2. It certainly does suck
I'd give anything for a job right now, and a good support system in 3D.

3. My prayers are with you lizziegrace.
Social services will be closed on Monday. Perhaps you can visit their office later in the week.
Many communities have food pantries which may help you feed your daughter and yourself.

4. i feel for you
i'm 36, have already lost everything, am completely broke and can't even hardly see the thread i am holding on to.

it's like i keep swapping horrifying situations for less terrible ones.

haven't had anything to really to eat (aside from noodles) in about a week.

it sucks.

especially when you can't get a response from any of the 500 employers you send resumes to.

good luck. losing everything sucks at first, but there is still a certain liberation in it.

5. Hey, try at least to go to the library now and again to use their computer
to let us know how things are going, OK?

We'd especially like to hear from you if things get better down the road, but even if they don't, we can throw some encouragement your way if you ring in once in a while.

I'm not the only one around here who will miss you, you can bet on that.

7. I will
The library's not so far I can't walk. I'll have to park the car when my insurance bounces.

8. (((lizziegrace)))
I'm so sorry, honey. :hugs: I've been at the bottom before and it feels like I'm being stabbed in the chest, repeatedly.

I know you might not want to hear this, but maybe selling some stuff would be a good idea?

It would give you extra cash when you need it and frankly, it's just stuff. It's not YOU or your daughter.

Think about ebay or a local auction house. They might even pick the stuff up for you. You can always get more stuff when you are in the black again. It's very liberating.

I have been where you are now. It is hard, there is no denying. It is also liberating and it will make you stronger. Hang in there. Take things one day at a time....make a budget and a plan.

I am just now coming out from under and every day is still a struggle.

10. PM me if you want to.
My daughter and I had to move home w/ my parents last year(I had just turned 30). We kept her things and my clothes and bed. Everything else was sold or given away.
Right now I'm working at a low wage job and still can't make enough to support us on my own. I know what it's like.
Good luck to you.

11. I'm so grateful to all of you
I feel like I've been given only a few days to live and want to cram as much time in here as I can. I'll start twitching and shaking when the cable company pulls the plug.
