Has anyone seen "Before Sunset"? |
|
It's the sequel to "Before Sunrise" starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, a movie that I thought was quaint, but not as great as everyone said it was.
Fast-forward ten years, and "Before Sunset" is a great film, with the most satisfying ending I've seen in years. When the last line of dialog was uttered, I was hoping it was the last scene, and that the credits would roll, and when they did, I was grinning like an idiot.
Good movie for those who have yet to give up on the notion of romantic love. :-)

need to see "Before Sunrise"
although I must say I would have worn a different outfit...
on edit: to explain myself, if I was meeting someone who had held such a special place in my heart I would have worn something more ....special, at least a better fitting pair of jeans
those jeans did nothing for her figure

3. I was thinking the same thing |
|
It's a little shallow, sure, but the whole time I'm looking at her in that ridiculous little jacket I'm thinking, "Julie, take off the jacket and put your hair down!"
Can you imagine the hours of anticipation and preparation if you were reuniting with someone that precious to you after ten years?
The top did look nice while they were traveling down the Seine... the way it blew around... but yeh, I agree that the wardrobe budget must have been nonexistent. ;-)
Ethan Hawke looked delicious, however.

9. That courtyard apartment building she lived in... |
|
... was like something out of my dreams, like somewhere in Paris I imagined I'd live, when I was fourteen or so.
The most beautiful city in the world, in my opinion.

someone (Hawke, Linklater or Delpy) alluded to the wish that they could keep re-visiting the couple every now and then. I'd like that if it was done well. I imagine it would be hard to do, though.

Love, love, love the film. Then again, I was a huge fan of "Sunrise" too.
The ending is perfection: the glances Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy give each other the stairs, the poignancy of her grandmother's photos, the smiles her song brings to him, and the way she delivers the line about how he's going to miss that flight ... I tell ya, if a woman ever sang a waltz song like that to me, I'd never leave her.
And amazing to think the film's action is in real time -- nothing really happens, in a way, but then again everything that needs to happen in their lives does right in those moments. :)

13. It was "talky" like a French film |
|
but I didn't think it measured up to most French films I've seen. Nice scenery, though. On the whole, good, but not fantastic.
