It has a slightly dated element to it - but is still wonderful. :D

2. It was pretty disgusting what they asked John Inman to do |
|
but he did do it so marvellously well.

4. I gathered he recently married his partner... |

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/john%20inman%20weds%20loverMaybe AYBS turned him gay. :eyes: Inman's a hoot as Mr Humphries. The whole show itself is marvellously well written. A bit naughty, and a bit dated in ways, but the jokes haven't dated.

you couldn't write a stereotype like that into a TV programme today.

3. Love Mr. Humphries, can't stand ANYTHING else about it. |
|
IMO, they should have dumped the entire cast and built a new show around Mr. Humphries. As it stands, it's corny and dated and unfunny as all hell, especially when they all make their requisite once-a-show appearance in "funny" costumes or break into a musical number.
And then Mr. Humphries makes a comment and all is well.

5. The 'funny' costumes and gags were good. The musicals were iffy. |
|
"Up Captain Peacock"'s gag has got to be the best...

8. I watched it in high school |
|
I thought that it was really funny. I wished that they would make American shows that funny.

9. Only one show comes close... |
|
"Three's Company". And even then, censors were having heart attacks and strokes over it. :eyes:
America is so timid on these things. Maybe that's why we have the problems the UK doesn't. Or doesn't have nearly so significantly.

12. Please, someone from the UK, tell me |
|
that it was hated there too! It's the Britcom that made me stop enjoying Britcoms (OK, OK, I have a soft spot for "To the Manor Born", but still...)
