I was on stage and the bar was right beside me. dude laid this jerk out with one punch. Bam! out cold. Paramedics and cops came. Punchee was such an asshole that no one ratted out the puncher, who left quietly befoe the other guy hit the floor. I think he broke his jaw. It was a brutal punch.

I was proud of us. we never dropped a beat. My solo started about the time the unconscious guy's girlfriend could say "oh fuck."

Thirty-five years, I've seen some doozy bar fights, but that punch was tops.

There's no acting in defense. It's simply one dipshit committing battery on another person. To be honest, the individual that won this "street fight" should be charged with aggravated battery.

18. I saw a similar fight once

in the one I saw, the guy who got knocked out requested the fight. However, the puncher ko'd him with one punch then stood over him while the guy was knocked out and hit him three more time. Broke the guy's jaw in five places, it was wired shut for a month.

Anyway, the guy who got knocked out had a father who was a good friend of Mayor Daley. So I had Detectives stopping by my apartment grilling me thinking I knew the guy who beat him up ( I didn't, I just watched the fight, helped the guy who was hurt and called 911, but the cops had my name and had to squeeze somebody.)

So, 2 weeks later I saw the guy who beat him up. I walked over to the police station and told the cops I found the guy (I remembered the detectives name). I sat in the back of the squad and fingered the guy. When the cop hooked him up the guy said "The other guy started it." Well, goodbye to most of your defenses.

Me and a buddy testified against him. They were thinking about getting him for attempted murder but chose aggravated battery. As i said at trial, the guy had the first punch coming but when you stand over a guy and hit him three times when he is knocked out, that is over the line.


They guy was convicted of aggravated battery and did a year in the state pen. Justice.

Sorry, after he had the guy down I don't think he should have gone to town on him as long as he did. And the kick to the face at the end was totally unwarranted, IMHO. On the other hand, I wouldn't want him to get back up and stab me in the kidney, so, maybe inflicting permanent brain/spinal damage seemed like a good idea to him at the time.

This is why I don't get in fights... I'd rather not spend the rest of my life learning how to write my name again because I called some guy out outside a bar. Not worth it. 'Course, I'd probably win against some people, but it's not worth the risk.
