I just got a new tattoo

anyone who knows my 'story' with VNV, will understand this...

they are the symbols from the VNV album Matter + Form (this is my top left arm, below my shoulder). i got them in black on my skin, instead of skin color on a black background as the album cover is. also, my tattoo artist recommended *not* getting the boxes around them as they might start to bleed into eachother over time....the album, the concept, and the Formation Tour, I think, are part of a period of my life that will always mean a great deal to me. it had to be done.

btw, if i have this right, the first symbol is sulfur, then the vnv logo, then the symbol for mercury. vnv is symbolic for salt, sulfur ->salt->mercury

http://www.soul-guidance.com/houseofthesun/alchemy_5.htm

http://www.alchemylab.com/quantum2.htm

sulfur: sulfer represents the multiplicity of human nature and the eternal aspiration to reach enlightenment.

salt: Salt is the third heavenly substance in alchemy and represents the final manifestation of the perfected Stone. The Emerald Tablet calls it "the Glory of the Whole Universe." For Paracelsus, Salt was like a balsam the body produced to shield itself from decay. It has also been associated with the Ouroboros, the Stone, and the Astral Body. In general, Salt represents the action of thought on matter, be it the One Mind acting on the One Thing of the universe or the alchemist meditating in his inner laboratory.

Mercury: was believed to transcend the liquid and solid states. The belief carried over into other areas, as mercury was thought to transcend life/death and heaven/earth.

something like that anyway, so many explanations...

so awesome. and so ironic to me :)

12. VNV is a band
VNV Nation, as in my sig.

Some interesting things happened while following them on tour in 2005, mostly consisting of 'enlightenment', ESP, spiritual related incidents

16. I like your tatoo, Faye
I've never heard of this band before, for what it's worth, but I'm happy to know that they have touched you in a deep way.

I don't think you need to be embarrassed about that, either.

Have you heard the expression, "We are spiritual beings, having a human experience." ?

:hi:

Alchemy is cool. I didn't know it had that kind of symbolism. And I just listened to some VNV Nation music too for the first time. They're awesome!
