After I dropped my son off at school, I drove to the shopping center near my house. I went to the hardware store and then to the bakery, where I sat with a cup of coffee and a roll and finished up a crochet project. It was a sunny, brisk day, and when I was done I strolled home, as is my habit.
I went about my business at home. When I stepped out my back door to get my son, I found a love note from my neighbor about my parking habits. I stuffed it into my purse. When I opened the porch door, my heart stopped for a minute. No car! Was it towed? I hastily read the note. No mention of towing. Was it stolen? Where did I see it last? Ohhh...I drove into the mall lot...but I never drove out. I ran to the mall and found my car still sitting there, no ticket, no note, no boot and thankfully not towed.
I had been concerned about being too dependent on the car but I think this episode lays that fear to rest.

2. You know that "erk--where's my keys" feeling? |
|
Except it's your car, not your keys. Not pleasant.
