Poll question: 90's sitcom "they" should cancel something to bring back
Edited on Wed Nov-26-03 08:29 PM by nu_duer
Whoever they are (I suspect the car companies are invovled), I say they can cancel over half the crap on tv today - let's say "The Bachelor" to name one. And what should they bring back? -

My vote goes to, well, it just had some of the most outrageous humor, one of the hottest women, and one groovy theme song...

What say ye?

Bring back:

1. I want them to get rid of "Everybody Loves Raymond"
Edited on Wed Nov-26-03 08:30 PM by absyntheNsugar
Tell Ray Ramano's character to get a life, a divorce and a home in the hamptons or anywhere BUT AWAY FROM THE REST OF US.

And then bring back Ned and Stacey. Anyone remember that show? It rocked!

6. yeah, that had the dude from Wings on it, right? How could I forget Wings?
My lack of cable is showing, er, let me rephrase that...

Yeah, that guy, I saw one horribly bizarre movie very late Sunday night that he was in, with Rob Lowe - called "The Specials." It was about a gang of super-hero misfits. It was from 1999, but I don't even remember it being advertised then.

2. Maybe It's Me
A very funny show on the WB. I also liked Grosse Pointe on the same. Were these on in the '90s? I can't remember. I'm an old fart - the late '90s and early '00s tend to run together.

5. Most of your options should never have been on tv in the first place!
Should have included classics like MTM, All in the Family, etc.

7. I was thinking bringing them back with original cast
Edited on Wed Nov-26-03 08:48 PM by nu_duer
Wouldn't work for most "classic" sitcoms.

NewsRadio and Third Rock shouldn't have been on in the fisrt place? I mean, come on, John Lithgow was in Third Rock - I believe he won an Emmy for it.

9. Northern Exposure. (Early 90's)
Before they got rid of Fleischmann.

Where has all the good TV gone? (Probably why I don't watch....)

13. Yeah! Nothern Exposure....
...is my all time favorite TV program.

As for sitcoms....I'd rather watch "Seinfeld" reruns then anything that's on now. Also loved "Ellen".

14. None of the above
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 08:55 AM by RatTerrier
But I stopped watching sitcoms years ago.

The last god one I saw was "Action". It was nasty, raunchy, and hilarious. Very good! And it tanked miserably in the ratings.

Just like other good comedies (i.e. "Police Squad"), people would rather watch the bland and unfunny than the exceptional and creative. Go figure. "Third Rock" was the dumbest thing I ever saw, and it stayed on for years.

"Cheers" and "Seinfeld" were among the last good mass-appeal sitcoms. BTW: I voted for "Dream On", which was also decent.

17. I voted for "NR," but bring 'em all back
CAncel every sitcom on ABC, every effing drama on CBS, and the entire Thursday lineup on NBC. There would be plenty of room for all of them. I never liked Seinfeld, but it's still better than ABCs entire sitcom lineup.
