I'm fricking freezing!
I ran out of oil, at exactly the wrong moment in time! This past week was so mild that I didn't think about getting oil. Now, I have to wait until Tuesday, since as far as I know the banks aren't open tomorrow, and then call for oil. I'm on fuel assistance, which helped pay for one tank, but now I have to call the "Joe for Oil" for a delivery, which is still going to cost me nearly $300. And that's discounted!! Thank god for Hugo Chavez--the other oil barons can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. They're nothing but cocksucking, blood sucking mofos for not helping out with oil.

1. Well, at least they pissed you off enough to make you curse and warm
things up.

Money-grubbing mofos, 'they angry the blood.'

Now, just like grandpa, I'm gonna make like mint jelly & go on the lam.

2. I'm sorry to here that.
Do you have a electric or gas oven you can crank? It really can help alot.

I do think we in for another warm stretch this week but I know that's not going to help you now.

3. The best thing I have
is my electric blanket. As soon as this TV show is over, I'm going back into the bed for the night!

4. Keep that blanket cranked tonight.
There is suppose to be a very, very bad wind chill tonight. - 17 degrees in your town.

If you can, check back in in the morning and let us know your okay.
I'm really worried about you. :scared:

9. I survived
as did the cats. I found one of my banks (in a grocery store) that actually was open today and managed to get some cash. The oil company is due any time now to deliver 100 gallons. That should tie me over until I get my next check, at which time I'll be able to buy more.

Thanks for worrying!!

17. I'm glad to hear your alright.
By now I hope your warmed up.

I always worry about someone with no heat in the bitter cold. I've been there and it's horrible. It also is very dangerous. It can and does kill people.

This winter with the prices being so high for all kinds of heat is going to be just awful.

5. Bundle up, Sweetie!
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 12:03 AM by buddyhollysghost
Three pairs of sox, two or three pairs of sweat pants, a wife beater under a T-shirt under a sweatshirt under a wool sweater oughta do it!

And don't forget to put a cap on before you head to bed - you lose lots of heat from the old noggin.

That totally sucks, here's a hug to stay warm

On edit: if you have an electric oven, you can set it to "bake" at 250 - 300 and it should put a little warmth in the air. You can set a pan of water on top and the extra moisture might warm things up, too.

8. Can't plan ahead if you don't have
the money to do it in the first place! :)

10. Got oil;
got happier. It's too fricken cold out there for man or beast, though. As I went out this morning to go and get the cash, I found I couldn't open the car door--the ice had sealed it completely shut. Tried the passenger's side--same story. Had to get a hammer to use the claw side to pry open the door. (It wasn't the lock--that opened without problem) The ice, instead, had somehow managed to suction hold the door to the car frame. I finally got the passenger's side open, and then took several attempts to open the driver's side from the inside. Finally got THAT opened, but then it wouldn't shut!! Can you imagine how frustrated I was at this point? My fingers were about 5 degrees from frostbite. Finally got the door closed again, and couldn't get the snow and ice off the middle part of the windshield. But I ventured out anyhow, slowly, and on the second gas station attempt, I found someone to help clear my windshield.

I love New England, love my home in Massachusetts, but it's at times like this that I would rather grab a hot chocolate, curl up with a good book (or DVD) and leave the outdoors to masochists.

11. But you do have heat now?
That's the good part.

I have had several frozen car doors. My brother had a Toyota that was o prone to door freezing he always carried a crowbar--which he would set underneath the car when he was driving places.

Stay warm.

15. Yeah--it was bitter cold last night
I'm glad it's supposed to get a little warmer (in the 30s and 40s) toward the end of the week. What's funny is talking with my mom (in L.A.) or my SIL in Las Vegas when they say it's "cold" there--and they're bitching about 40s and 50s. Last week, I went out with just a tee-shirt and jeans with a light windbreaker, saying how comfortable it was at 46.
