Good Monday Morning, Everyone!
:donut::hi:
I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to get this work week going! I wasn't around DU on Saturday or Sunday because we were getting the store ready for inventory on Saturday, and then conducted our actual physical inventory on Sunday, so I worked my little butt off this weekend. In fact, I worked a split shift on Sunday. Just so you know...split shifts sucks. :vomit: Thank all the gods it only happens once a year!

I got my W-2 in the mail on Saturday, so that means I can do my taxes now! :woohoo: I've already checked, and I'm going to get back $405! I paid in over $2,200, so I was actually hoping to get back more of it, but I guess Chimpyboy needs my money to finance his Iraq war more than I need it. x(

So, what did YOU do this weekend?

1. Hey!
Good tune for the day!

Sorry you worked your tushie off! Split shifts are the root cause of all evil.

Hubby and I did go see "Brokeback Mountain". It was truly an excellent film. Great cinematography, outstanding score, amazing character development, and the story flowed very well. I hope you and Greekspeak get a chance to see this gem on the big screen.

4. Morning, Miss Kitchen!
:hi::hug:
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to! Every single person I've heard say anythign about it, loved it! Greekspeak doesn't really want to see it because he says it is going to be depressing. He only likes comedies.

Split shifts ARE evil...thank goodness I only have to do it once.

It was heartbreaking. If Greekspeak does not want to go, find a friend who does. Seriously.

If nothing else, you will want someone to discuss the film with afterward...it is very thought provoking.

2. Good morning Clintmax
I had a wonderful weekend at my mom's. Beautiful weather so we could go for walks. Saturday evening we were invited to co-workers of her. They are from the Ukraine and celebrated their New Year last weekend after the Gregorian calendar. So there was a lot of really yummy traditional food :9

So I had a lot time to relax and started quite well into this week.

19. I'm mostly the instigator.
It's not stuff directed at me - folk here generally wouldn't dare. More me and somebody else directing bitchiness about others.

I'm now listening to l'Apparition de l'Eglise Eternelle by Olivier Messiaen on repeat quite loudly - dissonant organ music at its best, but not exactly 'happy music'. It's going to be the voluntary played before my funeral - unfortunately I haven't ripped the one I want after it, that's a depiction of the end of the world.

You're certainly helping to raise my mood though. :loveya:

I remember working split shifts when I was young. I found so many things to do in Atlanta on Saturday afternoons. It sure can take a chunk out of your normal life. Do you live close enough to your job that you able to go home during the break?

Hey ~ $405 I hope you can enjoy the small forced savings instead of needing it to pay a bill or two.

Inventory sucks! When we did inventory at TRU we had to go behind the inventory people and recount everything to make sure it was correct. I would dream about numbers with big fangs chasing me for days afterwords. :scared:

We're still waiting for our tax returns. But you reminded me that I need to call TRU and give them my new address. Thanks!

We watched movies all weekend. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Fifth Element (again... funny movie!!!), and a movie called Heavenly Creatures, which was... weird. But good. I liked it.

Yes, we had to do recounts also, so I know how bad it sucks. I don't know why businesses can't get W-2's to people right after January 1. It seems like it is always the middle or end of January.

I wish I could have watched movies all weekend like you did. I haven't seen Charlie yet. I wonder if it is as good as the original...??

69. I haven't yet either...
I'm thinking about going when I get off work tonight. There's a showing at 7:30, and if I can leave the store right at 7...I should be able to get there in time. Every person I've talked to who HAS seen it...LOVED it! I can't wait! I wish you could go with me.

77. Yes, of course.
I don't want to go by myself though...maybe I can get one of my co-workers to go with me.

59. I just got back to school.
I can go to the all-you-can eat dining hall which has the good variety, or I can go to the all-you-can-stuff into a foam box buffet which has slightly worse variety and slightly better quality.

63. Hmmm...better variety or better quality...
I think I'd choose better quality, myself.

86. Me too.
Just returned, food in hand. I've got hash, buiscuits and gravy, sausage, apples with cinnamon, an orange, artificial scrambled eggs, a doughnut, a small package of Honey-Nut Cheerios, and a very big cup of iced tea.

56. Morning Clint
Yes, working weekends is not fun. I've got several project due, so I went in on Saturday. It was nice and quiet with no one there, so I was able to just cruise. All the same I would have rather been doing fun things. Caught a bit of the flu this weekend so after working, I just kinda cocooned the rest of the weekend.
Nice to hear about your big windfall from the government. :sarcasm:

I'm just a little tired this morning, but I can hear that the coffee's done, so I'm going to fill up my travel mug and head on out to work. Ah, no rest for the wicked!

64. Morning, SimplyF!
:hi:
In retail, there IS no "nice and quiet with no one there", so I couldn't do THAT...but I'm glad YOU can! I'm sorry you caught the flu. I know being sick sucks the big one. I hope you get well SOON!

79. I know that feeling.
After I got off on Sunday I was exhausted. I'm feeling better now though. Have a good day at work today!
