Next Star Trek series?
Anyone heard about a possible new star-trek series? And why didnt the Sci-Fi channel pick up "Enterprise?"

1. I haven't heard anything.
As much as I've always liked Star Trek, I think they ought to consider themselves done. Unless someone can come up with a really cool idea, but I think the series has gone progressively downhill since TNG. But that's just my opinion. :)

7. Not done...needs a break...
They overdid it...even as a diehard Trek fan I could not get into Enterprise. But after 3 or 4 years, I think people will be ready again, whether for another movie or a new series.

My sister always thought a show concentrating on Star Fleet Academy could be cool...

8. I could go for another movie.
The series tend to start out good then get bad really quick, but you wouldn't have that problem with a movie. That Star Fleet Academy idea is kinda cool.

2. Latest two rumors...
Now these are JUST rumors, ok?

First one, a Trek series about Captain Sulu on the USS Exeter.

Second one, a series about Kirk, Spock, etc. when they were younger than we saw them on the Old Series.

3. Those rumors have been floating around at least 10 years
I really don't see either of them going anywhere. I agree with the poster who said ST is done.

4. Sulu was from 1995. Berman used his clout to axe it.
Berman can sit on his finger then spin on it.

10. A series about Kirk as a Destroyer skipper?
Could be fun.

Especailly if they go with a storyline involving a Federation Resource-Denial campaign against the Kilngons using Destroyers as chronicled here:

5. Haven't heard anything
but the first thing to do before they even begin planning is to kick out Rick Berman.

6. Before Enterprise started, they had talks with Michael Strazynski(?)
about doing the new show in the same way he did Babylon 5, pre-defined 5 year arc, new characters, different branch of the Federation, etc.
Maybe they'll revive this idea. I agree that Brannon & Braga have to go.

9. That would be Trek worth watching.
Although JMS would probably write in the Fall of the Federation, knowing him.
The last I heard, he wrote up a series treatment and was going to submit it to Paramount,
but decided (studio politics, he said) to hold off. He's still sitting on it.
Here's to hoping.

11. Star Trek needs to bring in.....
..younger folk to regenerate it's franchise. I say a "Star Trek": Star Fleet Academy.
This would, also, bring a chance for writers to expose youngers to actual
Science in a quasi-academic setting.

13. That's an appealing idea to me.
Think of all the opportunities for guest appearances. :)

12. Something involving the Beverley Hillbillies
Why not? They've tried everything else.
