4. The only poetry I've ever memorized without trying is in 'Alice'...
"Jabberwocky" is another one.

7. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 12:37 PM by ET Awful
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

13. The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

I thought I had read that story as a child. But I do not remember it at all. Might be I am thinking of Alice in Wonderland.

Or maybe I am in wonderland! Strange things happen in old age.

So down the road Eddie goes
Alone and full of sorrow.
He turns around to look behind
To see if any follow.

My world

9. What?
No Ogden Nash? He's the easiest one of all!

"The one L lama, he's a priest.
The 2 L llama, he's a beast.
And I will bet a silk pajama,
There isn't any 3 L lllama."

:D

10. Ogden Nash is my favorite poet: "The Ant"
The ant has made himself illustrious
Through constant industry industrious.
So what? Would you be calm and placid
If you were full of formic acid?

12. Nash is amazing
he's well known for his "animal" poems, but does some equally amazing (and longer) poems about just about every other topic. I got lucky and found a book of his complete works for $12.

The Octopus

Tell me, oh Octopus, I begs
is those things arms,
or is they legs?
If I were you, oh Octopus,
I'd call me "us"

Kittens

The trouble with a kitten is that
eventually it becomes a cat.

And the classic...

Fleas

Adam
had 'em
