I just spoke with a guy in Alabama and I swear he wasn't speakin English |
|
Although he thought he was.
Thick THICK Southern accent. Head of IT at some company, but would not just say things in drawl, he also slurred all the words together so it sounded like one big vowel movement.
"Aighten yallb'sennindem laiznz ot nah"
WTF????
No offense to DU Southerners, but sometimes our Southeastern Bretheren speak an unintelligible dialect...

1. The thick accents can take a while to understand. |
|
When I first moved to the South I could understand most people just fine, but people from the real rural areas and the hills I could hardly understand at all. Eventually it wasn't a problem for me.

7. I dated a guy who used it to his advantage |
|
Intensely thick, slow, central-Florida-native accent ("you need what? a pin? you want a safety pin? Oh, you need something to write with!")
He was the head of a law firm that defended one of the automakers, and he said people's Northern lawyers usually grossly underestimated him in court.
