It must be incredible to never ever ever have getting preg be an option |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 09:18 PM by uppityperson
(edited to clarify my original thought, which is not having getting pg be an option because you have male parts.)
Just a passing thought I wanted to share. Yes, men have to worry about pregnancy, and all that goes with it and parenthood and relationships and all that, but to never have to ever worry about BEING pregnant would be amazing. I am female and have been pregnant and even now I think about it whenever I have sex and this has nothing to do with access to contraception or abortions or adoptions or wanting or not wanting to have children or even if you ever have sex or not, but just the sheer measure of never ever having getting pregnant, your body getting pregnant, is amazing to me.
Random thought for today.

2. that works, but still, you could at some point and he couldn't |
|
not having the right gear and all. I had a bf with a vasectomy once and it was nice, but still, I knew that I was capable of pregnancy and at some time I might and even if I didn't I still could. But he never ever could, even if he didn't have a vasectomy.

3. Yeah, but the down side is having no choice in the matter |
|
I'd rather take the worry and having to deal with contraception over not having the option to have another rugrat if I really wanted one.

4. Just think though of being male and not being able to get p.g. |
|
not having the right parts I mean.
This started as a random thought and I'm clarifying as I talk with you all. Sorry if I seem confused.

7. But I think I would hate that. |

I enjoy having the right parts to get pregnant. I enjoyed carrying my babies. Dealing with the impending end of my "childbearing years" has been somewhat emotionally difficult for me.
I don't worry about pregnancy now for two reasons - while it wouldn't be ideal, it wouldn't upset me to become pregnant; also, it's highly unlikely that I would anyway.

9. Me too, it just struck me as odd, not having these parts |
|
I guess I shouldn't say "worry" but more of ever having the possibility ever.

5. Women live longer than men and they don't go bald either. And |

our society permits them to enjoy men in ways other men aren't... even though some of us are anyway. (maybe that's why they live longer!)

8. I don't mean whether or not you CAN get pregnant, just that 1/2 |
|
people (more or less) can never, ever, ever be pregnant because they are male. Thinking about this while watching my partner mess with condoms last night and got to thinking "he will never get pregnant".

in the world to have a baby. I don't look at it the same either since we had so much trouble. I always took the positive spin...Look what they are missing out on! :hi:

14. I have 1 I would never trade and fight fiercely for, but I'm thinking men |
|
that it must be really odd to be male and not have the parts and not have the worry or wonder of getting pregnant ever be a possibility for their body. Must be odd. (My husband thinks it must be odd for me to not have dangly bits)

population can walk outside at night pretty much assured that they won't be sexually assaulted. That just amazes me. I can't imagine such freedom. :(

Yes, everyone can be assaulted, and men suffer from things that women don't and do need to be careful also. That sounds quite tramatic. bah on them.

I'm sorry about that.
Before that happened, would you say you were hypervigilant about being aware of your surroundings? That just seems like such a female trait.

Never had the keys out before I got to a door, none of that.
It's a different world for women, I'll certainly acknowledge that.

30. Yes, a physically taxing process. For me |
|
were I to be the male counterpart to impregnation, and she chose to go through with the birth (because, to me, it IS her choice, ultimately) I'd do everything that I could possibly physically do for her/us, such that she wouldn't have to. I'd be her servant in every way that I could be.
I know that this doesn't really relate/answer what you said, but I wanted to suggest that I, personally, would try to alleviate the other draws on her time/strength. Maybe something to think about for another.
