2. He was the best!! So smart and loyal...he was my boy and
followed me everywhere.

I have been missing him a lot, lately. I never posted a pic of him before and wanted everyone to see how beautiful he was.

Border Collies just have those deep, soulfull eyes don't they?

They know what you're talking about. Truly, they are your friend.

5. That's hard.
Our two dogs are pretty much our kids, and I'm dreading when that finally happens to them.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

8. His legs and back gave out on him. He could no longer stand up
by himself.

We always thought that he would be with us much longer -- he was always so active and never seemed to slow down. People never believed me when I told them that he was 11 years old.

One of the hardest things I have ever done in my life was saying goodbye to him.

I had a border collie who died of renal failure when she was 5 years old.
The vet told me that collies (including borders) can be genetically prone to it. :(

I'm so sorry...

11. My dear driver8.......a time for tears, indeed.......
Here's a little poem to help you, I hope:

I explained to St. Peter,

I'd rather stay here,

Outside the pearly gate.

I won't be a nuisance,

I won't even bark,

I'll be very patient and wait.

I'll be here, chewing on a celestial bone,

No matter how long you may be.

I'd miss you so much, if I went in alone,

It wouldn't be Heaven for me.

--Author unknown......

RIP, Cody......

15. beautiful
you must hear my border collie story - when I was a child in England us kids liked to play in a small park; a retired farmer lived nearby with his old border collie "Jake" - sometimes we would scream for that farmer to come get his dog - Jake would sneak out and round us children up in a tight circle - ALL the kids in the park, and he'd "nip" our ankles if we didn't comply.........we guessed he just missed his sheep days.........

19. We used to take Cody to the dog park but had to stop. All he
wanted to do was "herd" the other dogs. If they were playing fetch, he would cut them off. If a dog didn't react like he wanted, he would give a little nip. When he finally got the dogs in a group, he would run around them in a circle to keep them together. He did this with the people at the park, too.

He never had any herding training -- it was all instinct.

18. Thank you everyone, for your kind words...they really mean
a lot.

Cody always was very protective of our family. Shortly after he died, we happened to "find" a great dog at a dog adoption day. We were going to wait, but this dog was so great with the kids that we really wanted him to join our family. My wife likes to say that Cody brought our new dog, Buddy, to us. I kind of like that idea.

22. What a gorgeous dog! I am so very sorry...which doesn't make it
any easier, I know.

Our neighbors behind us have a Border and we have a Sheltie, and watching the two of them together is worth selling tickets over.

There is something about the eyes of a herding dog...

Go in peace, Cody. I'm sorry driver
