The RetroLounge Daily Poem Thread (Tue 1/17/06)
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 06:52 AM by RetroLounge
Alone With Everybody

the flesh covers the bone
and they put a mind
in there and
sometimes a soul,
and the women break
vases against the walls
and the men drink too
much
and nobody finds the
one
but keep
looking
crawling in and out
of beds.
flesh covers
the bone and the
flesh searches
for more than
flesh.

there's no chance
at all:
we are all trapped
by a singular
fate.

nobody ever finds
the one.

the city dumps fill
the junkyards fill
the madhouses fill
the hospitals fill
the graveyards fill

nothing else
fills.

Charles Bukowski

*******************************

What's the fucking point anymore?

It just fucking hurts too much...

1. What's the point Retro? The point is that there are people here who
care about you more than you will let yourself realize. The point is that this seems like the end...when in reality, it may be the beginning of the best years of your life. If none of that sustains you, the point is your children.

Please be strong, sweetheart, I know I am just a voice on the internet. But I DO and will always care. Be there for your babies. If you need to talk. PM for phone number.

Hug,

Laura

2. We certainly can pinpoint
your moods by the selections you present here. Seems like you're on a roller coaster of emotions, and that's well to be expected. Don't think too hard, just let life happen. Take care of yourself, and make your kids top priority. The rest will fall into place.

I'll be sending you healing thoughts.

20. Poor kids keep asking why daddy is so sad
I have no idea what or how to tell them, so I just tell them everyone gets sad sometimes and I love them and it is all fine.

4. Hang on
Besides losing a child, I think this is the second most difficult event you'll ever experience. You've got your children and an entire community of people who would gladly take the pain from you if just for a few minutes.

Now if you don't lay off the Bukowski, I'll be forced to deluge your inbox with the "verses" inside Hallmark cards.

I'm sorry you're having a bad day.

12. Oh no, sweetness.
The "point" is whatever we make of it.

The point for most is to attain happness and/or contentment, I suppose. You will have to wade through the sludge of desperation and hopelessness, before you can pull your feet from it. As some assert, without the dark there is no light. When you finally reach a ray of it, I believe it will warm you all the more, for your suffering.

We all have our bruises; some which disappear with haste, others which linger and bleed below the surface. The only real remedy we have is each other, and you have so many of us.

My love to you, RL. Take life one moment at a time and allow yourself your grief. It will have to be released one way or another, in order to lessen.

13. It feels like I am bleeding to death
one drop at a time, one drop each day, day after day, knowing the inevitable will happen on that one day in the near future, when I say goodbye to my current life as I bleed out and just drop...

p.s. Shit, what a drama queen I've become...

Best actor in an ongoing drama? But you'll only be eligible for a single season. In time, the rain will stop and the clouds will part.

Check in when your daughter's about 11. She'll show you what drama queens are really like!

15. The point is life, my friend
Even though you hurt, and I've known that kind of pain, it will not be that way forever. Hang on to us, as we care so much about you. And, as others have said, focus on your children, one of the best examples of life. Take care of yourself.

16. The point is that we've all walked this path.
Not in exactly the same way, but we know the pain.
The Lounge is your Oxycontin. :insert lame Limbaugh joke here:
Your friends are Morphine. (name them, right now, in your heart)
Your children are the reason for enduring, and fighting the pain.

Nobody can take away the pain. If we could, we'd do that for you.
Pain acknowledges that something is broken, and needs attention. You didn't think that it would go away that quickly, did you? How could it, when so much love went into the relationship.

I love ya, my friend.
