"Arrested Development" news
'Arrested' developments

TelevisionWeek (from which I also stole the headline) is reporting that both ABC and Showtime have offered the producers of "Arrested Development" deals to continue the series on their networks. And it's all above board because when Fox reduced this season's order from 22 to 13 episodes, "the reduction triggered a clause in the show's contract enabling producers to shop the series elsewhere," sayeth TVWeek. The producers are said to be "mulling both offers," a one-year deal from ABC and a two-year deal from Showtime, part of the CBS family.

A slender morsel granted, but a morsel nonetheless.

5. I'm kinda hoping for ABC for that reason and one other one
THere was something fun and quirky about how they 'censored' bad words on the show. (Like the one show with Charlize Theron and they were talking about pussy both in a bleeping manner and a very clean manner).

I wouldn't want them to get rid of that but if it's on Showtime then can can swear all they want.

But it doesn't matter - wherever Arrested Development goes I will follow!

12. That's the way I feel, too!
I dont give a crap what network Arrested Development is on, just as long as it's not on Fox!

And if it's not on Fox, it gives me one less reason to watch that network!

4. they should go with Showtime
they will have more freedom and won't need as big an audience to be considered successful

6. Yay!!!! For selfish reasons, I hope it's ABC, I don't have cable.
But even if it goes to Showtime, at least it'll still be alive and I can eventually buy/rent the DVDs.

9. Yeah, I'd love to see more of Jason Bateman.
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 02:08 PM by grace0418
Every other guy on that show has been shown in the barest minimum of clothing allowable on network tv. But the least I've seen Michael Bluth wearing is an undershirt and boxer shorts and socks. It sucks! He's a hottie! I want more!

8. I don't have Showtime but I still hope they go to Showtime
for the freedom and the lack of commercials. Fox doesn't deserve a gem like AD. I'm happy to wait until each season comes out on dvd.

Fox is airing the remain episodes (2 hours) on Feb 10th -- opposite of NBC's opening ceremonies for the Winter Olympics.

17. Oooohhh! Take the 2 years on Showtime! It'll hit syndication!
I think a show needs 89 episodes (used to be 100, but it dropped) to be syndicated forever and ever amen. Also, Showtime would let the pony run the whole way, rather than ax it after 4 episodes if ratings don't improve (which is what network TV does).

Apparently FOX have confirmed that two networks have put in bids for AD. Source is a story on BBC Ceefax, via a guy on another forum.
