Has anyone else tried the new vodka called "Three?"
It is made entirely of soy and has no carbs (Not that I'm a health fanatic: trying to make hooch more healthy runs contrary to my liquor philosophy--although I enjoy truly premium craftsmanship in the distilling, brewing, and fermenting processes, I realize this does not always translate to "healthier.") I received a bottle for Xmas and really like its taste! Smooth and kind of velvety--I rediscovered the martini this past month!

KANSDEM's perfect martini:
3-5 parts "3"
1 part Noilly Prat vermouth
Shake with ice made from purified water, and garnish with organic olive.

Mmmmm, mmmmmm :9 Gin? What's "gin?"

2. No vodka contains carbs.
It's all pretty equivalent, health-wise.

4. Sure, "vodka martinis" are available...
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 04:36 PM by KansDem
Correct me if I'm wrong, but vodka martinis are available and attributed to James Bond:

Vodka Martini
"Shaken, Not Stirred"

1 1/2 oz vodka
dash dry vermouth

Combine ingredients with cracked ice in a shaker. Shake well. Strain and serve in a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an olive.

From the Editor: In the movies, James Bond was a hard-core vodka martini drinker who preferred his cocktail "shaken, not stirred." Due to his popularity, the cocktail was the hottest drink of the 1960s. However, we believe his fondness for vodka was due in large part because Smirnoff bought the product placement rights in the films. Before the movie series almost all martinis were made exclusively with gin.

As I recall, gin martinis should not be shaken, but stirred due to potential "bruising" of the gin:

The classic martini of yore was stirred, "so as not to bruise the gin." W. Somerset Maugham declared that "Martinis should always be stirred, not shaken, so that the molecules lie sensuously one on top of the other," while James Bond from the Ian Fleming novels ordered his "shaken, not stirred", a drink properly called a Bradford.

So make mine "Three," please!

9. Calling Rabrrrrrr for backup...
A Martini is gin. Vodka drinks are not martinis. this has been a point of contention in the Lounge for some time.

10. Not water...
But a lot smoother than "gin-based" martinis!

11. Then I'd question the "no Carbs" claim
Alcohol is pretty much the same as carbohydrates nutrition-wise.

12. From the website...
The distilling process for 3 Vodka is far more elaborate than any other vodka brand. The process of identifying and separating the soy isolates is extremely intensive with each component of 3 Vodka distilled individually. The resulting product is a super-premium vodka - with a taste that is demonstrably smoother than other vodkas.

3 Vodka is the only vodka in the world distilled from soy

3 Vodka is the only vodka in the world to receive the first flawless vodka rating of 100 points

3 Vodka contains zero carbohydrates

3 Vodka is gluten-free
