Wait until you're 18......or buy or rent the DVD......
I'm sure it won't be too long before it's out on DVD!

I've got a few years yet until I am legally an adult. ;)
But I'll be damned if I don't see it sometime, somewhere!

I don't like movies about cowboys, gay or not.
Last good western I saw was "The Shootist."

31. It's not a cowboy movie, it's a movie about two cowboys |
|
Not the same thing. I'd call it a very good character-driven dramatic love story.

if you don't want to see it, don't.
I think that there's so much mindless crap coming out of Hollywood today, genuinely good films should be encouraged and seen.
But, that's just wacky, crazy me.

and while I certainly don't regret seeing it, and enjoyed the acting, the scenery, the story ... I didn't think it was all that much to be so excited about.
Ennis mumbled too much, I missed his dialog a lot of the time

19. Actually I'm not a fan of westerns |
|
But, the last time I went to a movie was in 1996 and the last time I rented one was a few years before that.
I don't see too many films and this one looks like a love story. I'm not big on watching those either.
What is sad about this movie is that it is the homosexuality aspect of it that is gaining a large part of the attention. It seems that people question people who don't want to see the film because they might be homophobic or something and the truth is, it just doesn't seem like a movie I would want to go see.
Here we are in 2006 and the content of the film is still this controversial and a lot of people are only concentrating on that aspect rather than if it a good movie or not.
So no, the reason why I won't see this isn't because of the sexual content. It is because I don't go see movies at the theater, I don't rent movies, and I rarely sit for two hours in front of the TV watching movies.

You seem to be assuming that this film is only being called good because it is about homosexuals. Why do you make that assumption?

I said "Here we are in 2006 and the content of the film is still this controversial and a lot of people are only concentrating on that aspect rather than if it a good movie or not". I don't see where I am assuming that the *only* reason that people are saying it is good is because of that.
There are a lot of people that seemed excited because it won the awards it did last night. My guess is that not all the people excited over it saw the movie.
I'm not the best writer here at DU, but I can tell you that I'm not a stupid person. I understand what I see and hear.

But I haven't really seen this movie being portrayed as a western as much as a love story. I was just wondering why you asked me about westerns.
No biggie. I was just answering the OP asking if anyone else wasn't going to see the movie.

everyone involved in the movie is emphasizing that it's a love story, not a gay cowboy movie. I don't think you can blame Ang Lee, et al. for the hype...Just sayin'.
