13. What kind of camera is it?
Last March we bought a Kodak EasyShare CX7430. We love it! Great invention, the digital camera.

14. Aren't digital cameras the BEST?
Mine is Nikon's D50.....their version of the D100, I believe.....the D50 is intended for us amateurs.....

I LOVE it.....

9. It may look like it, my dear Miss Marmelstein......
But I do believe that since this is a nature preserve, and a marshy place also....

That picnicking would be discouraged in that particular place...

Glad you like the photos!

10. My dear Whoa_Nelly!
Nahhh....just point and shoot, point and shoot, baby!

Well, maybe not! I did make some judgments on the composition, and on which lens setting to use!

The flower setting on my lens works wonderfully on the closeups! IMHO, of course......

Glad you like these!

Thanks for coming by! YOu know, I did NOT see that little spider on that flower till I uploaded the pics into my computer today.....

I was delighted to see it! A little bonus on the flower.....

I'm glad you like these!

I will be returning later in the spring for more.......

15. You're getting good at this Peg. Are you using a macro lens?
You can really get close up and have come out very sharp. How far away are you from the flower shots?
I asked you before, what camera you are shooting with but for the life of me, I cant remember.
Would you refresh me on that?

16. My dear maveric!
No, no macro lens.......My lens is Tamron's 28-200mm one. But the camera has a flower setting, which allows me to get pretty close.

I'm not sure how close though....cause I'm focussing through the lens.

I just focus till it's sharp....and I'm as close as the camera will allow.

If I'm too close to focus, the camera will NOT let me take the picture!

I'm probably within a foot or so of the flowers....

The camera is a Nikon D50.......and it is amazing!

I'm glad you like my efforts!

These are actually easier to shoot than the beach pics.....the flowers don't move around!

17. I just bought a Tamron 18-200. Its the best all purpose lens on the market
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 08:31 PM by maveric
Unless you are shooting something really cvlose, from far away, its the only lens you need and I love it! The 28-200 is pretty much the same. Tamron's are good lenses at a discount price.
The Nikon D-50 is highly rated. You got yourself a good one there.
I have Canon EOS-20D. I splurged a bit, but wanted the camera of my dreams. Its great! Now I'm suffering from whats called "Lens Lust". Buying different lenses for different uses/effects. Next week I'll be getting the one I ordered. Its a Canon 180 MM EF-F 3.5 Macro. http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=13336205&bct=t1004%3Bc1022%3Bc914962

I'll be able to bring subject from far away, up close and clear. Ritz has it listed for $1659.99 but this local camera shop had it for $1395.99. Now all I need is a good, fast "Fish eye" and no more lenses.

I shot some surfers today. Perhaps I'll post a thread?

18. Sounds as though you're having some fun!
I have decided to get away from multiple lenses, though.....

It is just too damn much trouble for me to carry around, and figure out where to change, all those lenses....

Though you do get better results with the specialized ones.....

Hey go for it! I love other people's photo threads!

Part of the reason I bought the Nikon digital camera was because my lens (which I'd had on my old Nikon film camera) would work on the digital one...

I really appreciated not having to buy another new lens!

21. I have several "fast" lenses from my old Olympus film camera.
They wont work on my Canon so I have this need to buy new ones.

Damn it get expensive.
