1. Got swats in 6th grade...

My family cussed a lot, but 'fuck' was never a word heard around the house at all. I never heard it at school either...least that I can recall.

My stepbrother sang this song...'Yankee Doodle Dandy' only sing it with an 'F' at the beginning of each word. I took the new found knowledge to school and sang it while the teacher was out of the room. The kids said...'sing it again'. I, loving the attention, did.

In every class there is a tattler and we had one. As soon as the teacher walked into the room, she told her what I was doing.

Now, I had no idea it was even a bad word. Just everyone laughed and wanted me to keep singing it. The teacher took me down to the office and the vice principal gave me several swats. They hurt like hell.

Told my mother because I didn't want her to get a call from the school. I thought I'd save myself some punishment. She went to the school and lit into all of them. For one thing...not every kid knew that word or what it meant. For another, and my mother has a tendency to pull some RW nutjob crap, but the one thing she won't tolerate is other people inflicting harm on her children. That was her job.

She's proud to have been hated by that school. She called most everyone there crazy. I do remember when the teacher was walking me down the hall...she told four teachers along the way what I did.

My mom was right...they were effing nuts.
