Is it weird that I find sports bras more comfortable than underwire bras? |
|
I mean, I'm running all over campus all day, I have to workout, and then I have to carry groceries home--sometimes a big chested gal like myself needs more support than those lacy bras can provide.
Is this weird?

I love my sports bras as well, but have to have an under wire and pad. Otherwise......well, let's not go into that.

23. underwires are terrible |
|
I won't wear one.
I have a terrific sports bra, very expensive, but I wouldn't call it "comfortable". It most certainly does its job. (It claims that it restricts motion... it does. I can't even slouch in that thing.)
There are alternatives to sports bras and underwires.... and no I don't mean ugly old lady bras either.
But you do have to look for them.

that doesn't look too old-ladyish.
I'm not big on a lot of lace. I think it's itchy. My bras are very plain, but they do their job.

I look at the dents on Mrs R's ribcage from those damn wires, and wonder why she puts up with it.
Yet another reason I'm glad I'm not a woman; you women put up with SO much. Imagine how the guys would be whining if we had to strap our yockers up with something that had a wire in it!

19. Not mutually exclusive, you know. |
|
I have two sports bras with underwires. They're the only ones I'll wear for running. I wear regular compression-style ones for hiking, softball, etc.
I'm about your size, and my favorite bra is the Victoria Secret Body by Victoria Unlined Full Coverage Underwire (I think those are all of the descriptors ;)). It definitely has the support we "big chested gals" need. I think it's way more comfortable than a sports bra, too---there's no compression. Plus it's a very natural shape. I like some other bras in the VS Body by Victoria line, but there are few other bras I think are worth much.

I gotta check out the others in the line.
I recently lost some weight. The best part is SMALLER TITS! It is WORTH it to give up beer, sweets and all that stuff to NOT BOUNCE. I can wear shelf bras and not suffer unduly.

31. I used to love Vickie's Secret, but they have changed manufacturers |
|
and their bras now suck. I'm serious. Go buy a new bra there. I guarantee you'll be able to tell a difference within weeks. Cheaper material and poorly made. I love their body shaper line, but the poor quality is driving me elsewhere.

28. God bless whoever invented the sports bra |
|
I never used to exercise, other than swimming, until they came out - best invention ever.
If they didn't make me look SO flat-chested I'd wear them all the time. First time my S.O. saw me in one, he said "if they make you look that flat, I can't even imagine how big those girls who look busty in them must be!" I won't go to the gym or even go for a long walk without one!

45. Try Lunaire's sports bra |
|
It's got great support, doesn't cause uniboob, and comes in sizes up to F (DDD).
Although for day-to-day wear, I swear by Le Mystere's Dream Tisha. It actually has as much support as any sports bra I've ever worn and comes in sizes up to G!
(I sell bras for a living, so I'm more-than-passingly conversant with the little buggers.)

It's so much more freeing to not wear bindings like that.
