Steve Miller Band fans check in!!!

Does anyone out there actually think someone can write the songs (well excluding Abracadabra) better than Steve Miller Band. Outside of Robert Plant, I've seen Steve Miller Band more times than any other band out there. You go because you can sing along with all the songs!

17. OK, so I will admit to not totally hating a few of his songs.
But he's not my favorite musical act of all time.

14. You could also turn on classic rock radio and wait twelve minutes.
Sure enough, they'll play some Steve Miller. And you can get drunk and sing along in the privacy of your own home!

ANd I don't listen to classic rock radio - too many commericials and the only zep songs they play are Stairway and Rock & Roll

16. The only 70s band to make "REO Speedwagon" sound good
overrated, undertalented, cheezy, about as sonically interesting as watching paint dry.

Sorry, but I'll pass.

19. But listen to these lyrics:
"Feed the babies
Who don't have enough to eat
Show the children
With no shoes on their feet...
Whoa, there's a solution."

Hey Dem party: why haven't you hired this Miller guy to work on your campaigns?! He's got REAL soultions to real problems! Children are hungry? FEED THEM! Shoeless? PUT SHOES ON THEM! Fucking guy is brilliant.

It's Miller Time!

24. More mindless pap for the masses
Miller's lyrics can't hold a candle to the transcendent universal message of love expressed by the Speedwagon in "Keep On Lovin' You":

You should have seen
By the look in my eyes baby
There was something missin'
You should have known
By the tone in my voice maybe
But you didn't listen
You played dead
But never bled
Instead you lay still in the grass
All coiled up and hissin'

And I though I know
All about those men
Still I don't remember
Cause it was us baby
Way before them
And we're still together
And I meant every word I said
When I said that I love you
I meant that I love you forever

And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on lovin' you

And I meant every word I said
When I said that I love you
I meant that I love you forever

And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on lovin' you

Hey I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on lovin' you

Pure poetry.

21. My very first concert!
Wasn't allowed to go to concerts yet, so I rode my bike to the Temple University Musci Festival (now Temple Ambler campus), and we snuck into the concert.

Hey, I was 14 and thought they were DAMNED cool.

And I thought I was pretty cool, because I knew what a midnight toker was, and some of my friends didn't!

22. Steve Miller Band SUCKS!!!
Anything they could do wrong, they did.
(I think they were the inspiration for "Spinal Tap.") :-)

Their biggest "hit," AFAIK, is "Rockin' Me Baby," shit, even the worst of disco was better.

30. Children, children, children
The "latter day" stuff (like after '73) is absolute dreck.

The early stuff (the albums "Sailor", "Brave New World" and "Your Saving Grace") are classics.

The end.

32. The intestinal chorus of a dysentery ward is better 'music'...
than the Steve Miller Band. But it smells about the same--I'm prone to occasional random synaesthesia, and their music makes me smell raw sewage (311 have the same effect).
