Starting to post on a web site that has a whole bunch of tension that you dont know anything about. What the hell is going on with the Window of Joy thread? I dont know anyone hardly on this web site by user name yet so I am so lost. Seems like every body is mad at every body. I guess Im naive but I assumed when I came here that progressive people would be able to work through their differences.

Well I dont know any body so I like every body! :hi: Check in if you dont know what all the feuding and tension is about but just want to have a good time with like minded people!

there was some conflict in the lounge, especially in the fall, and the window of joy was simply meant as a goofy "let's all just be happy and silly" thread...and somehow that was interpreted as sinister. kind of sad, really. x(

That's a really good question b/c the lines seem to get blurred, imo, too. I think in theory, anyway, the GD: P is mainly for hard core politics issues, whereas GD is just that, GENERAL discussion...meaning anything goes....but heaven forbid if you post something not deemed worthy enough! :eyes:

Its strange here. For example, cryptic threads are a sort of group identification, the message: we know what we are talking about, thats what defines us as a group; you, on the other hand, don't know, so you aren't one of us."

Lots of opportunity to assert your agreement with others here, or to ironically assert your sameness by teasingly disagreeing when you really agree. Lots of hugging and posts consisting of nothing but someone's name and hugs and emoticons. I suppose it passes for social interaction.

Just keep in mind the Code of the Schoolyard: Always make fun of people who are different, never tattle, and never, ever, say anything unless you are absolutely sure everyone else thinks exactly the same way you do.

A lot of the lounge threads are, as someone said, just goofiness and pretend-fighting, although some are random pissiness. And it's true that GD is where people get really pissy.

In GD, no matter what you say, someone will disagree with you. In here, as long as you don't discuss dropping your pet off at the humane society, let your cat outside (to eat birds) or complain about badly behaved children in restaurants (or breastfeeding ones, for that matter), you're probably okay. Although you're never 100% safe.

My suggestion is you should talk up the Phillies, cheesesteaks, hoagies and cool little boutique BYOB restaurants.

Ive never dropped off a pet at the Humane Society. Ive only had indoor cats. I like kids and I dont mind breast feeding.
