and a quote from Satchmo! The first line never changes, but the quote-line changes depending on my mood. I've been in a musical mood of late, so up pops Satchmo!

Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 09:09 PM by 4MoronicYears
rather expensive medications... I met a lady today in the P.O. and she was noticing that I was sending lemon flavored liquid fish oil to my mother.... she said that her bp was hitting 250 over 178 or so, was hospitalized twice for it and was put on three medications. Today she takes four (4) salmon oil pills from don't scream Walmart per day... bp is 128 over around 70 or so.... and she is off ALL MEDICATION. I got her number and I want mom to call her and get it straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

On Edit: she is 65 years old.

Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 09:53 PM by helderheid
Wiretap bumpersticker (proceeds split between White Rose Society and Democratic Underground)
The next is my campaign management software company Star Campaign and the Hopi quote (and company slogan) "We are the ones we've been waiting for" - 20% of proceeds get donated to Progressive Democrats of America. Last, something I think I came up with myself.

14. A quote from Florence Nightingale
"I stand at the altar of murdered men, and, while I live, I fight their cause."

The mortality rate in the Crimean War had been appalling; but the toll of lives in the barracks in peace time was a disgrace. Neither the Army Medical Department, the Medical Office nor the Military Hospital organization could be counted on to remedy the glaring evils of the system. Florence herself must take care of the health of the army. "I stand at the altar of the murdered men and while I live, I fight their cause," she said, as three months after her return, broken in body but not in spirit, she began her work.

I think it is appropriate considering what this regime is doing to our military.

28. A Frank Zappa quote - spoken in his song "Heavenly Bank Account"
HEAVENLY BANK ACCOUNT

And if these words you do not heed
Your pocketbook just kinda might recede
When some man comes along and
claims godly need
He will clean you out right through your
tweed

That's right, remember there is a big
difference between kneeling down
and bending over...

He's got twenty million dollars
In his Heavenly Bank Account...
All from those chumps who was
Born again
Oh yeah, oh yeah

He's got seven limousines
And a private plane...
All for the use of his
Special Friends
Oh yeah, oh yeah
He's got thousand-dollar suits
And a Wembley Tie...
Girls love to stroke it
While he's on the phone
Oh yeah, oh yeah

At the House of Representatives
He's a groovy guy...
When he Gives Thanks
He is not alone...

He is dealin'
He is really dealin'
IRS Can't determine
Where The Hook is

It is easy with the Bible
To pretend that
You're in Show Biz

They won't get him
They will never get him
For the naughty stuff
That he did

It is best in cases like this
To pretend that
You are stupid

He's got Presidential Help
All along the way

He says the grace
While the lawyers chew
Oh yeah
They sure do

And the Govenors agree to say:
"He's a lovely man!"
He makes it easier for
Them to screw
All of you...
Yes, that's true!

'Cause he helps put The Fear of God
In the Common Man
Snatchin' up money
Everywhere he can
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

He's got twenty million dollars
In his Heavenly Bank Account
You ain't got nothin', people
You ain't got nothin', people
You ain't got nothin', people
Thank the man...oh yeah

(c) 1981, from the album "You Are What You Is"

38. reference...
I've got a depiction of the Golden Apple of Eris:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discordianism#The_Original_Snub

and also a quote from William Blake's "Proverbs of Hell"...here are some more of them (clearly my favorite is the one in my sig line...):

Drive your cart and your plow over the bones of the dead.

The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.

Prudence is a rich ugly old maid courted by Incapacity.

He who desires but acts not, breeds pestilence.

The cut worm forgives the plow.

A fool sees not the same tree that a wise man sees.

He whose face gives no light, shall never become a star.

Eternity is in love with the productions of time.

The hours of folly are measur'd by the clock; but of wisdom, no clock can measure.

No bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings.

The pride of the peacock is the glory of God.

The lust of the goat is the bounty of God.

The wrath of the lion is the wisdom of God.

The nakedness of woman is the work of God.

What is now proved was once only imagin'd.

The fox provides for himself, but God provides for the lion.

The tygers of wrath are wiser than the horses of instruction.

Sooner murder an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires.

Where man is not, nature is barren.

39. It's a line from "Rock For Sustainable Capitalism" by Propagandhi
I fuckin' love that one rock video where
That fucking jack-ass mohawked millionaire prances around by far the worst sausage party on earth,
Where by mere chance he's caught on film shaking hands
With an incredibly diverse collection of patriotic skins
I like the message it sends (that fucking goof):
With a Rebel yell, Just Do Exactly What You're Told. One million douche bags can't be wrong
When did punk rock become so safe?
You'll excuse me if I laugh in your face as I itemize your receipts and PowerPoint your balance sheets
I hear this year's Vans Warped Tour is "going green!"
I guess they heard that money grows on trees
Hope they ship all those shitty bands overseas like they did their factories
Music's power to describe, compel, renew
It's all a distant second to the offers you can't refuse
Remember when we used to believe
That music was a sacred place and not some fucking bank machine?
Not something you just bought and sold
How could we have been so naive?
Well, I think when all is said and done,
Just cause we were young, it don't mean we were wrong
And I'll rock back and forth on this two-bit hobbyhorse
'Til she splinters and gives way
I'll tend the flowers by her grave
And whisper her name
If anyone out there understands, can I please see a show of hands?
Just so I know I'm not insane
Ever get the feeling you've been played?
Well, that's rock for sustainable capitalism and you know,
We may face a scorched and lifeless earth,
But they're accountable to their shareholders first
That's how the world works

46. From King Lear

Time shall unfold what plaited cunning hides

It is Cordelia telling her smarmy (to say the least) sisters that their deceits will come to light and they will get theirs. It is certainly apropos to our current crop of "leaders"

CORDELIA: The jewels of our father, with wash'd eyes
Cordelia leaves you: I know you what you are;
And like a sister am most loath to call <270>
Your faults as they are named. Use well our father:
To your professed bosoms I commit him
But yet, alas, stood I within his grace,
I would prefer him to a better place.
So, farewell to you both. <275>

REGAN: Prescribe not us our duties.

GONERIL: Let your study
Be to content your lord, who hath received you
At fortune's alms. You have obedience scanted,
And well are worth the want that you have wanted.

CORDELIA: Time shall unfold what plaited cunning hides: <280>
Who cover faults, at last shame them derides.
Well may you prosper!
