Question for those who have Verizon phone's
Hi all. My Mom is thinking of trying to change our plan from Cingular to Verizon. On my phone I keep trying to EMail pictures to myself but no matter what it doesn't work. My Mom uses her phone when she calls my grandmother and talks to her long distance and she has this annoying beeping noise. We've heard a lot of positive feedback about Verizon and thinking about changing. Does anybody here have a Verizon? And also for those who do a question for you about the plans: I'm looking at one plan and it says $60 for a two year plan and than under it $109.99 for one year plan. So does that mean you pay the $109 plan and than add on the $60 for the two year contract or how does it work? Thanks in advanced. :)

1. As far as the contract pricing goes
I'm sure you would pay $60/month for the entire 2 years or 109.99/month if you only signed for one. Verizon really pushes the 2 year deals.

Can't help you with the camera features, because I never use them. But as far as I know, Verizon has the best national network, so if long distance calling and/or travel are important to you, then that's something to consider.

2. I have Verizon.
Been with them for years, and have never really had any problems with them.

3. On Countdown tonight, they reported that Cingular is filing...
a lawsuit to prevent companies from selling the phone records of Cingular customers. It was enough to make me think of switching from T-Mobile to Cingular since I'm looking for a new phone anyway.

4. ...

I had Sprint and my Mom had Cingular. We both switched to Verizon last spring, and have been VERY happy that we did. Much unlike our previous experience, Verizon's Customer Service is outstanding, the connection is MUCH better and the calling area has never been an issue.

I did a lot of price shopping, we both ended up getting our phones from this website, and got great deals:

http://www.wirefly.com/wlnphome.asp

If you go there, look under "Carrier Offers" in the column to the left and choose Verizon.

On the next page you enter your zipcode.

On the next page, go to "More Verizon Wireless Options" (in the lefthand column) and click on "More phones."

It will show you all the phones available, and has very nice interactive comparison options.

I would highly recommend Verizon. If you and your Mom both get it, then all of your calls to each other are free! (All Verizon calls to other Verizon numbers at any time are always free.)

Good luck.

5. Thanks for all the feedback
I looked around their site and saw they had some deals that on certain phones if you got that phone you'd get another type free and they have the monthly family plan. We'll probably get that since that's what we have with Cingular. I don't use my phone to talk on it much except when I need to call my Mom to pick me up or something since I get dropped off at my classes since parking can be a bitch and I only live five minutes away. Heh. But they had some good deals. I read that about Cingular and was very happy to hear that. :) What about Verizon? Do they not sell your information too? Some number from the area kept calling me (two different one's) and I never answered because I had no idea who they were and I've only given my number to two people besides my parents and my grandparents. Heh. I'm glad their internet connection is better. Does anybody use it? Can you login to DU and other boards like that? Only thing I can do on my current phone is surf through the site and check Email.

6. Not sure about the internet thing.

I don't use my phone to surf, except to check email. They had a trial period in the beginning where everything was free and I played around with it a little bit then, but never got really involved. From that limited experience I was able to get onto DU, but for whatever reason (operator error?) was never able to log on and check the discussion threads, etc. Could only read main page articles. But I was able to get news feeds pretty well. And read and send email from my main email site.

Hope that helps.
