Maisie - 1992-2006
My parents' Scottish Terrier, Maisie was put to sleep a few hours ago, after suffering multiple organ failure and a recurrence of lymphoma. She deteriorated rapidly over the last few days and was rushed to the vet, who could do no more for her.

My parents (and and I and all our family) are distraught but Maisie had a good life and was much loved and gave love in return. She will be creamted and her ashes will reside in a ceramic urn on top of a cabinet in Mom and Dad's living room, surrounded by Scottie figurines to keep her company.

2. Dear Peggy thank you so much for your kind thoughts
It hasn't really hit me yet but I expect that will happen. We knew this day was coming but I guess no amount of warning prepares one for the event. Mom and Dad are heartbroken but we've talked about it, and of course life goes on........

3. Oh, I'm so sorry.
She was a beautiful dog, and I'm certain she led a full and happy life. My condolences on losing a member of the family (she would be your canine sister, right?).

4. Yes indeed - I played with her a lot right from puppyhood
(hers, not mine), so it IS like losing a little sister. It's the price we all pay for owning and caring for a pet.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and words......

8. Thank you very much - it's kind of you to say that
She loved to chase cats, but of course never caught them - long-legged cats beat stumpy-legged dogs every time.

Your cats, on the other hand, are cute and gorgeous - love them !!!

10. Clint - thank you so much
I was going to drop in on your thread but I feel so rotten I didn't want to put a damper on everything. Best I just lay low for a while. Hope all is fine with you.
