Anyone hitting the post Turkey day sales tomorrow?
Normally we don't. But there are a few items that seem to be irresistible.
A bagless vacuum, a bike for our 6 year old for Christmas, and I also have a DVD list.
We know that it will be mayhem, so my wife and I made a deal. She'll go if I stay home with the kids. It could get ugly, but I know my wife can hold her own!
Anyone else going for it?

wear it, or possibly compute on it, I don't buy it. So I'll be staying home.

3. Not me
I'm not buying ANY gifts this year. All my gifts will be handmade. I don't personally need any consumer goods, in fact I am looking to sell a lot of my things to prepare for a cross country move.

Have fun on your shopping trip! I am doubting it will be as crowded as in years past, but you never know.

21. Good for you! I'm a city girl, and I'll have fits if I can't be in Target
and Macy's tomorrow. And Barnes and Noble, and Circuit City, and Bed, Bath and Beyond . . .

Wish I could be that way, I just am genetically and culturally incapable . . .

11. changing oil is a waste of money and bad for the environment.
Unless you drive a race car or your oil gets contaminated by some foriegn substance like fuel or coolant, there's no need to change it.

i haven't changed oil since about 1996 and have never had an internal engine problem.

waste of money, bad for the environment, period.

btw, i've built and helped build over 20 engines in my day, so i'm not some nutball..

6. Tomorrow is National Buy Nothing Day
I'll get the link for ya in a min. The group that started this is also similar to the group that started the don't buy gas day.

It's meant to draw attention to the fact that we as a nation consume more than anyone on the planet.

8. Tomorrow is national Buy Nothing Day.
I'm not helping Bush get re-elected. If you will be buying this Xmas, avoid shopping tomorrow. A lot of media attention will be paid to how sales go on the day after T'day.

13. ain't NO WAY!
We live near a 250+ store factory outlet mall. They have acres and acres of parking lots. Tomorrow the lots will be full. People will park up to a mile and a half away and WALK IN!
That's nuts.

15. This will be our first time
and the only reason we decided to go was because our budget is very tight. We won't spend more then $150.00 'Nuff said.

Quite interesting the reaction this thread got, I am a little surprised. Not offended by any means, just kind of surprised.

27. Holiday shopping really does make or break the retail biz.
Like it or not. Good sales at holiday time means no lost jobs and temps often being hired on permanently.

This goes for merchandise manufacturers as well. As a former assistant buyer, let me say this: there are no better discounts than Black Friday. Ever. But you have to be early. Even post-holiday sales don't beat the early bird bargains on BF.

16. didn't they move the 'big day' up to today?
this article is written to make it sound past tense and a done deal

"Shoppers Hit Stores Earlier for Holidays" was greeting me in the Business news section on my computer this a.m.

And, as for me:

17. No, I'm working
and then hibernating until after the holiday season. I hate going into any stores this time of year. The holiday season has deteriorated into a giant pean to materialism.

18. geez . . . I hate shopping on normal days . . .
the last place you'll find me tomorrow will be at a mall . . . I recall doing that once some years ago . . . why human beings are willing to put themselves through the chaos and degradation of post-Thanksgiving sales is beyond me . . . something I learned a long time ago: whatever you want or need, you can always find it on sale somewhere . . .

19. Not tomorrow...
I'm all for the no-shopping day. I will try to buy my gifts from small independent retailers this year.

I vow not to enter a Wal-Mart --- or even think about doing so.

20. No sales , but I have to buy some wood and posts
to repair a basement door that is wobbling on one hinge and totally rotted out on the base. Plus I need to set some posts to lay out an electrical outlet to my outside dog's house. He is a collie and has a big matted coat (poor old buddy--haven't had time to brush him out much this year) but when the weather dives below freezing this year he will be presented with a heated mat. So, I don't think my purchases really qualify as "sales" frenzy purchases but I will be confronting the revelers at Home Depot. It should be a more sedate crowd though.:*
