10. According to family legend... |
|
my dear sweet dad socked him in the face while they were in high school.
I don't know if it's true or not, but I'm going to believe it anyway. Because I have to.

But my music tastes clash with most people on this board.
I always thought Kevin Cronin and Geddy Lee of Rush were seperated at birth.

Ridin’ the storm out, waitin’ for the thaw out On a full moon night in the rocky mountain winter. My wine bottle’s low, watching for the snow I’ve been thinking lately of what I’m missing in the city.
And I’m not missing a thing Watchin’ the full moon crossing the range Ridin’ the storm out Ridin’ the storm out.
My lady’s beside me, she’s there to guide me. She says that alone we’ve finally found home. The wind outside is frightening, But it’s kinder than the lightning life in the city. It’s a hard life to live but it gives back what you give.

They recorded two shows in kansas City, I went to both of them and screamed my head off. I lost my love for REO when they started playing sick ass teenage love songs about 1980.

The hair was incredible. Awe inspiring, if you will. Of course, it was back in 1985. I have a feeling there's much less of it now. :-(

22. One of their songs actually didn't make me ill. |
|
"I can't fight this feeling anymore" was very moving. Okay, the song sucked as bad as everything else they did, but it was sweet and tender, and it reminded me of someone I loved at the time, so I could handle it.
I'm trying to be complimentary, I am!

24. Liked 'em before I grew up |
|
and before they jumped the shark. I got the live album and the "Decade of Rock 'n' Roll" compilation when they came out, and I reviewed "You Can Tune a Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish" for my college paper. That was the last decent one they did, and it was really only saved by "Roll With the Changes."
Like a lot of bands that peaked on the charts in the early '80s, their best stuff was way behind them by then. The first two or three albums were pretty good, with stuff like "Ridin' the Storm Out" and "Golden Country." But in the '80s it got so I could barely tell them from Journey, who followed a much similar path.
Goddam record producers. :grr:
And who thinks Kevin Cronin sounds like Geddy Lee? Cronin has no range at all; neither does Lee, but he gets into a vocal stratosphere Cronin can't touch. (In a review of Rush's "A Farewell to Kings" in college, I wrote, "When he gets up there, you want to check your turntable to make sure it's not set at 78.")
