My bunny is dead (seriously).
I had to leave her, along with her companion, in the UK when I left there in June (against my will - long story). My ex then dumped the pets on his parents, who I am sure have done a splendid job taking care of them (they also have a lovely rabbit-proofed garden for them to bounce around in on occasion).

Anyway, apparently the girl, who we adopted from a bunny shelter in October 2004 (she had been seized from a council flat where a crazy lady was keeping like eight bunnies), had developed a nasty internal infection, lacked energy, etc., and, though they had medicated her and my ex's parents had done all they could, her condition worsened this week and she became unable to eat or even hop around much, plus she had developed a cataract in one eye severly impairing her vision. Seeing she was unhappy, they decided, with their vet, to euthanize her last night. I just found out this morning when I got two emails - one from my ex's sister, and one from my ex, who I haven't spoken to in about four months or so.

I am sad.

6. thanks
I just wanted to share it with somebody, cause, like I said, I am sad. She should be acknowledged, especially since my ex just abandoned her (he had a habit of doing that). She was special. Bunnies are great.

7. Sorry to hear this SB
Back when I was a counselor at summer camp in HS, there was a bunny that loved to follow me around. he was part of the petting zoo part of the camp, but he was a great sidekick that summer.

13. Pumpkin
she was sold black and very soft and incredibly sweet-natured, if a bit testy (no doubt due to her earlier years).

awwwww

18. my condolences to you, too
bunnies are such sweet creatures. I have visions of being an old, eccentric Southern lady in a house filled with bunnies... and a flask or bourbon... and a Saturday Night Special.

Maybe one day I will have another bunny... there are many that need homes, and so many people tend to buy them for Easter presents for evil little kids.

19. Bunnies are special.
I've had four, but I miss Vlad the most. He had personality to spare. :)

It's good that Pumpkin had loving care for as long as she did.

22. I wish you could have been together one more time.
But rabbits are fragile creatures. You gave this one a good life.

There is a homeless rabbit or cat waiting for your care and love.

24. I've got my own little black bunny, and we send our condolences.
Munchy showed up in our yard this summer, probably dumped (no one responded to ads, signs, etc.) I've never had a bunny (we're cat people and have three of those), but he won my heart. He's a sweetie, and so cute. I'm so sorry for the loss of your girl. Luckily she was able to experience a good life after you rescued her.

25. I'm so sorry, StellaBlue
I know how very, very special bunnies are to their humans--have had four of them, all wonderful, sweet, funny beings. Losing them is so terribly sad and heartbreaking. I'm sorry that you couldn't be there with her, but please don't blame yourself for that. You rescued her from a terrible situation and gave her the very best life anyone could ever hope for.

Our own sweet bunnies will be waiting to greet her at the Rainbow Bridge and lead her home to wait for you. Take care.
