I've got my state form, but still waiting on the Federal.

1. Next time I'm on the phone I'll asking the agent spying on me to send one
Edited on Thu Jan-19-06 08:16 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I'll say, "Hey, Tom, hold on a minute, I just remembered I need a 1040 - hey, agent whoever you are, listening in, can you make sure I get sent a 1040 and a schedule A? Send it to my home address. You know it. Just click once if you can do that... Thanks - so, anyway, Tom..."

13. That seems kinda rude
Are you normally sarcastic to people when they ask you a question?

25. I think Rabrrrrr was joking/being cynical
ie if you want anything from the government, just say it on the phone, because they are listening in anyway. That';s how I took it, anyway.

29. I know. I'm just in a bad mood. I have a headache. I didn't get my coffee
this morning. And this whole thread is full of information I didn't ask for.

Taxes stress me out. I want to do my taxes the way I normally do my taxes. All I want to know is if anyone has had their 1040 mailed to them yet. I don't want to know about Turbo Tax. I don't want to know about e-filing. I don't want to be the straightman for a joke.

It's didn't seem like that deep a question. And I know this is the internet and this is also the lounge. But you'd think you could get a straight answer to a straight question.

I don't care what my doctor says. I still think I going through menopause. Why else am I in tears right now?

37. Yep, I was only joking about the constant spying on US citizens
and making the joke that at least there is one good thing from it, which is that, if we need anything from the government, we just ask for it while we're conversing with someone else.

It would be especially funny if the stuff we ask for starts showing up. :-)

Not to mention that it's sort of a matter of principle. Surely they can manage at least this much for a taxpayer, to send me my damned form.

And if I get them from the library, they won't have the pin on them for telefiling.

I was just wondering if they had started to show up yet, or if it was just my neck of the woods.

20. I know where to find them.
I just wanted to know if they've started mailing them out yet.

And anyway, why would I want to waste the paper when they're supposed to be sending me one. The one I'll get in the mail will be garbage then.

And the one from the library or post office won't have the pin number on it I'll need for telefiling.

Just wondered if the government had gotten around to mailing them yet. That's all.

Last year (05), I got a pretty sweet refund. The year before that (04), it was barely worth cashing the check!

So here's hoping I dont have to resort to: :puke:

own taxes -- I tip my hat to you!

Prerequisite for marrying Radio_Lady (for all husbands-to-be)

YOU have to do be able to do my finances and taxes (top of the list), or at least, supervise him/them doing those things, if you're inclined.

Way down below is all those other things, y'know....... keeping the toilet seat up, buying tires, washing the dog, adequate sex, etc.

In fun,

18. But first, they mail it to you. Then you fill it out. Or you telefile.
First step: Get form.

I ain't got mine yet.

Nothing too deep. Just wondering if they'd started to send them out yet. Didn't think it was that hard a question. But so far, ain't nobody got an answer. I'm surrounded by e-filers and people who let their accountants do it.

but efiling costs money. Well now, that sucks. Telefiling was free. Efiling, it seems, costs $30.

Well, I suppose if you do the Federal for free, you can just mail in the State one.

Oh God, my head hurts.

I shouldn't be trying to figure this stuff out when I just got 4 hours of sleep last night.

42. The IRS website has a whole page of links for e-filing.
www.irs.gov/efile

Some of the sites are free at least if you meet certain criteria. And it looks like some will do the state income tax filings as well, but don't quote me on that, since there's no such tax in my state.

You should be able to download and print the forms and instructions from the IRS website. IRS also a Free File system set up so you might want to check that out as well.
