How bad is your vision?
I wear glasses but even with corrective lenses I think I'm only about 20/30, without them I am about 20/400. To put that in perspective, if I took off my glasses I couldn't see the big 'E' at the top of the Snellen Chart. If my eyes are this bad at 21, I can't imagine what they will be like at 50!

There goes my dreams of being a fighter pilot

Who can top my crappy vision?

1. About 20/400 in each eye astigmatic
and only slightly myopic
I wear gas perm contacts and have had little vision change in over 40 years. My sis who's an optomitrist told me recently that there are new soft contacts now that are finally good to go for my type of eye/lens shape. Am looking into having LASIK done.

5. My problem's more of a brain thing than an ear one.
I can't hear when there's any background noise but when they test me with the bigass headphones I'm fine. If only I could go through like with the bigass headphones and never have to listen to more than one thing at a time. :eyes:

I guess they have aids to help with that, but it's hard to get doctors to take a complaint about hearing seriously when you're young and healthy unless you're stone fucking deaf- even in my case where teh problem runs in the family. Also, my HMO sucks donkey dick.

17. Background noise interference sucks big time
My insurance didn't cover any hearing costs. Had to pay on credit card, but hwat a difference in my life and hearing. Actually had an improvement by wearing the aids and my brain making new synapses. My hearing loss is neural as well. Do you have directional loss and/or tinnitus? I have both of those as well as the voice range loss. I can hear some voices better than others (lower tones, usually males), but usually have to have poeple look at me when they are speaking or so much of what is said doesn't register.

I went to an audiologist who prescribes Oticon hearing aids. Check them out at: http://www.oticon.com/eprise/main/Oticon/com/_index

These are electronic, small and they have a wide variety of aids for a wide variety of needs. When the flesh color dye in the insert part of the aids made my ear canal itch, the company replaced them free by making a whole new set with clear inserts.

7. Floaters can be fun
Try to get a big'un to stop right in the middle. Hours of Fun for the Whole Family! :woohoo:

I need new glasses bad. Got these like five, six years ago; progressive bifocals. Now I can't see very well to read, and I gotta pull 'em down to focus on the teevee.

9. Ha!
Sounds like a thread: "What do your floaters look like?"

The thing I always hated about 'em is they make it hard to catch a fly ball. :grr:

Couldn't drive without them.

fortunately with lenses it's close to normal..

Get by just fine with glasses.

My only problem is when I lose my glasses - then I can't find them.

18. Don't know about the 20/20 stuff
however, looking at my last checkup prescription... -11.00 in one, -11.75 in the other, with the need for +2.25 bifocal added. Yup, near sighted as hell... plus I need the bifocal to read.
