I'm gettin' really pissed here. . . . new car is making funky break noises
and the freakin' dealer is telling me to bring it and drop it off on Monday but they won't provide a loaner.

HELLO, I just made sure you got 20,000 freakin' dollars, how about you give me some consideration here. This car is TWO FUCKING WEEKS OLD.

I can't take time off on Monday to drop off a car that should be working perfectly, and then be without that car until you fix it.

I have a 12-year-old car and I get a free loaner if I make an appointment.

What kind of funky brake noises? Squealing? Chattering? Grinding?

Edit - call your salesman...HE wants to be a good guy.

2. Squealing.
It's really pissing me off. Under any type of moderately hard breaking or when slightly riding the breaks while rolling to a stop.

4. Sounds like the brake line needs to be bled.

5. That could be so many things.

If I knew a person who had a car as new as yours, I'd show some more consideration if I were in the service business. Seriously, call your salesman and ask him to intervene. He or she wants your friends to buy cars too. Or hell, chew out the service manager, they're used to it. :D

6. Salesperson is out today. I have a call in to the sales manager I worked
with. I also have a call in to the service manager, but no response from either yet.

7. The one bad thing about Hondas are the dealers.
If you read Consumer Reports, the one area where Honda gets dinged is on dealer treatment. I hope this dealer is one of the better ones.

8. Bullshit.
Believe me, ET - as the person who bought the ONE Element w/ lots of bugs (new engine @ 1200 miles, new rear main seal and ball joints @ 3500) your WARRANTY will pay for a loaner vehicle. I got one each time the vehicle was taken in. Maybe call Honda care?

12. Was that you?
They have a picture of you up on the wall at every Honda dealer saying "DO NOT SELL TO THIS PERSON"

Seriously though, see my post below, I'm satisfied for now.

11. All is well. They think it may be just a faulty brake pad causing the
noise. They suggested, and I agreed, to drive it for a week or two longer to make sure the sound disappears (since it brakes fine, and the sound isn't consistent, it comes and goes). If it recurs after that time, they will replace all the brake pads and provide a loaner.

I'm satisfied.
