Poll question: How long have you been at your job?
Edited on Fri Jan-20-06 03:33 PM by nini
We had a discussion here about how long people have been at the company I work for. Some stay for the long haul and some like to jump around every few years. Just wondering how the masses here fall into this category.

Me - I've been at my job for 14 years and am happy here and hope to stay until retirement. But, in Bush's economy that may be a pipe dream.

Having raised 3 kids, with my wife, I agree it's the toughest job in the world. The good news? They eventually grow up and leave home! Mine are all over 18 now and boy am I glad. I loved raising them -and I loved it when they moved out too.

7. 7 years, but I'll be leaving in the summer and going to law school.
For me, it's less a matter of liking to jump around, and more a matter of finally having the time and ability to go back to school, after realizing my brain is atrophying here, and there is no reasonable opportunity to advance (flat management structure means there's only ONE manager position above mine, aside from the owners, and there are probably 10 people more qualified to do that job than I am).

Most of law school, from what I've heard, is time management, so work experience is a definite plus.

Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 09:57 AM by Evergreen Emerald
It is about time management. I was a single mother of a young child. It was difficult and I will be paying off student loans for a long time! But I do like my career. And with this degree, the sky and your imagination are the limits.

Good luck to you.

67. Ah, it is not so bad,
it can be real fun. I was always one to hang out with the guys as a kid. They have all become protective of me. They would check out my boyfriends (only had two while working there) to see if they were alright. They like my husband because he gives them crap like they give him. He was definitely approved by all.

Thank you for the welcome!! Been here a little bit, just do not post much. You all give me a good break and laugh here in the Lounge! :hi:

I quit being a therapist years ago. Does that matter? NO!

So I keep on doing the same thang, but this time I don't get paid.
Some times it's funny, sometimes it's difficult, and sometimes it fucking tears me apart.

So I'll keep on doing it. Paycheck or no paycheck. I'll rant and rave about it - but I wouldn't have it any other way.
