So, have any favorite podcasts?
In the spirit of "what's on your bookshelf?," what's on your iPod?

My top 5:

The Ricky Gervais Show
Ring of Fire (AAR)
NOW
The President's Weekly Radio Address (No, not that one! It's satire.)
Mother Jones Radio

2. I just started getting podcasts
So I don't have a large list yet. I get Slacker Astronomy, Michael Feldman's Whadya Know (I wish they carried his whole show), and Tim Gunn's podcasts about Project Runway.

7. It's a reality show on Bravo
Up and coming women's wear designers compete to show a line at Olympus Fashion week. This season isn't as good as the first, but I still love it.

13. It is.
Tim Gunn is my favorite part of the whole show, really. He's kind of the den mother of the group, and he mentors to the contestants. The show comes on Wednesday nights 10 pm eastern, and the podcast for that episode comes out shortly afterwords.

5. Leonard Lopate Show
from WNYC. org.

This man is such a stellar communicator and interviewer. He can interview anybody! He mostly interviews authors of books on relevant social issues. But he did one show on baseball recently and I really enjoyed it and I hate sports!

19. Ricky Gervais is a hoot.
I also get:
The Young Turks
Democracy Now
FAIR's Counterspin
On the Media
KCRW's Left, Right, and Center

I love the Young Turks and Democracy Now, but it's not easy to keep up -- more than three hours a day for those two. The weeklies are nice.

21. I have to be careful about where I listen to Gervais
There's always something in there that's more than a chuckle, so I try not to listen while in a subway car or standing in line at the bank.

FAIR's Counterspin sounds interesting....

22. I've laughed out loud at Karl Pilkington more than once in public.
I'd never heard their BBC radio show before (I guess they were on for a couple years before The Office and Extras), but I love the whole setup.

24. I have a dumb question
Are podcasts only available for Ipods? I know that the ipod uses a different format than other players. Mine is an Iriver and the files are either mp3 or WMA.

25. Truthfully, I don't know. I would tend to say there's a way to get them
-- even if you have a different player. Maybe someone will be able to fill us in.

26. podcast are just mp3 files..
Anything can play they.. The RSSish nature of them sets them apart. The syndication part is what makes the special.

And the iPod plays mp3s.

30. No, podcasts are not available only for iPods as
best as I can tell. You need a podcatcher or simply download the file and save it as an mp3. Google podcatcher and you will get a lot of free software options. I don't think it's as easy as subscribing via iTunes but you can do it.

27. I've only listened to one so far...
I haven't really gotten into it.

I listened to one of the Porno Jim Show podcasts, though, but then again, Porno Jim is my cousin. Gotta support the family.

He's an awesome guy. Totally chill and domestic despite his career and so is his girlfriend (she works for an architect firm).

31. A disadvantage of dial-up
I experimented with downloading a Ricky Gervais podcast. Takes forever. And I still haven't heard any of it. If I could figure out a way to download the file at work (we have a T1 line), then I could burn it on a disque from home.
