To Combat Freezing Cold in Russia, Animals Given Vodka

Zoo animals in the Russian capital Moscow were given vodka to better withstand the glacial weather, where extreme temperatures are reported.

According to the news of Moskovskiy Komsomolets, the animals were made to drink vodka due to the bitter cold, and reportedly, the elephants in the Yaroslav region of Russia were treated to one bucket of heated vodka everyday to keep warm. snip

Spokesman Nataliya Isratova, stressing all possible precautions were taken to protect the animals from the cold, said, "The alcoholic beverages do not warm the animals’ body, it only helps them not to feel the cold."
