1. Other - depends on who said it. |
|
There are some folk who have a good idea of what I like, don't like, and dislike - in that case I'll be very ready and keen to take up their recommendation.
Then there are others who don't seem to understand my tastes - in this case I'll still be open minded in my approach, but I'll be a tad more wary.

2. Depends. I have a friend, and we have opposite tastes in |
|
movies. I always take his recommendations with a mountain of salt....

3. Depends on how well they know me |
|
If my family think's I'll love it, I probably will. I'll at least approach it with an open mind. It would be unusual for them to pick out something I would just "hate."
If a good friend thinks I might like it, probably will.
If a complete stranger says I'll love it. Probably not.

5. Yeah, if my one friend says I'll love it |
|
and doesn't do the eyebrow trick, I'll run out and get whatever it is. If another says it I'll avoid it at all costs, unless he prefaces 'You'll love it' with 'I hated it'/.

6. Our favorite restaurant came as a recommendation |
|
We can't get a table there now :eyes:, but we initially went because one of our friends was so enthusiastic about it.
It also depends on the person doing the recommending...

7. If someone tells me I'll laugh my ass off at a movie, I'll probably |
|
get a chuckle or two out of it. Raised expectations and looking for jokes and all that.

9. This truly depends on who is offering the recommendation. |
|
Even among those with whom I intimately acquainted and whom I cherish deeply, no one is an expert on everything.
I might take recommendations on movies, editorial comments, humour, graphics, comic strips and even music from a dear friend, but hesitate to take that same friend's recommendations on literature or fashion advice. IYSWIMAITYD.
