When I stepped onto my balance beam scale this morning......
a miracle had happened!

I have lost 40 pounds since I started trying to lose weight several years ago!

I could hardly believe my eyes! But it's true.......that scale does NOT lie!

Celebrate with me!

1. Woo hoo, darlin' Miss Peggy!!!!!!!
I'm celebrating my own weight loss of 20+ pounds since mid-November! What have you been doing to lose the weight? I've just cut back on how much I eat, and it's certainly working.

Ain't it just the bestest when you see results in something you are working on accomplishing??

3. My dear SeattleGirl!
Good for you, sweetie! I have been watching my calories, and have really tried to kick up my exercise regime at the same time!

You know.....exercise more, and eat less......IT WORKS!

But I still eat the stuff I enjoy....just less of it......

I was so amazed to see what the scale told me.....I had NOT expected it!

14. Exercising really makes a huge difference, my dear SeattleGirl!
I joined a local gym, and the personal trainer worked up a program for me...

And by God if it doesn't work! I have a lot more stamina and energy since I started this program....

I find I need to get out of the house to do my exercising....

But you need to find what works for yourself!

Also, remember that weight bearing exercises are excellent for bone density!

15. Hey, SG!
Sorry I missed your "Hello!" in Nighthawks last night...went to bed early...

I agree re: exercise. My Xmas gift to myself was a magnetic exercise bike with upper body workout and an ABS Lounger.

than I did 3 years ago.

Giving up alcohol is good for ten pounds right off the bat.

10. Hello to you, my dear Ellen Forradalom!
Yes, alcohol can play a significant role when you're trying to lose weight...

I don't drink much, so I haven't given up drinking the occasional glass of wine...

Good for you on 25 pounds! That is very significant as well....

16. Thank you so much, my dear WakeMeUp!
I haven't tried to lose it quickly since I want to eat this way for the rest of my life.....

In other words, it's not a diet as much as it is a lifestyle.....

I find that if I go on a diet, then I can go off it.......

And that just doesn't work for me....I want to be consistent!

I sure do love the results!

And good for you!

13. Congrats in a BIG way!
For a smaller you!

Now...what's your secret? What things have you done to achieve this change?

Am just getting ready to go to the grocery store in a bit because my fridge and pantry are pretty much empty. Am thinking of purchasing mostly veggie snacks, some juices and other "good for me" things.

What's on your grocery list these days that you'd recommend?
(I don't eat beef)

Again.... CELEBRATE! Right On!

17. My dear Whoa_Nelly!
My secret? Hmmm......well, I haven't really changed what I eat.....

BUT I have changed how much......And fewer desserts.....

I do like to eat macadamia nuts for snacks.....

I think the main things for me have been to eat sensibly, and to really work out several times a week....

And the weight has come off, but very slowly.....

But that's the way it went on! So I am doing what I can live with!

Because I want to live many more, and healthy years!

Good luck to you, sweetie!

21. The skin does take awhile to shrink back down......
But what I meant is.....I just normally have the apple-shaped belly, instead of being pear shaped......

I have had this belly all my life! Even during my thin time, I had it, though it was smaller....

It's just how I'm constructed.......

And congrats on your weight loss too!

29. Now I Know Who To Blame!
Yesterday I stepped on my scale and was shocked to find I weighed more than 40 pounds more than I did last week. Now I know the truth! Scales do lie. Mine picked up 40 pounds seemingly overnight. I am not the only one to have noticed this phenomenon either. My wisp of a daughter was appalled to find she went from 58 to 102 in one week according to the same scale.

CaliforniaPeggy - no offense, but your scale may have transferred forty pounds to mine.

Sure it transferred 40 pounds to your scale!

Well, you're just going to have to work it so that those pounds will want to leave......

And find someone else to fasten themselves on!

Oh, and BTW: WELCOME TO DU! Enjoy your stay in our crazy, addictive little village!
