1. Hit it with four ibuprofin |
|
and then in two hours four tylenol. And sometimes an icepack will help.

5. alternate 2 ibu, then 2 hrs later 2 acetaminophen, then ibu, then acet. |
|
Don't overdose on either because that is bad (duh) but ok to alternate them because they hit different parts of pain receptor thingies.

that for real pain only four ibu is therapeutic and is safe for a day or two. The Tylenol is a different med and you can "piggyback" it with the ibu.

800mg every 6 hours for a day or two max. My doctor once prescribed me 800mg of Motrin every 6 hours for 7 days but I wouldn't have taken that much if it wasn't with his approval.

four o-t-c ibuprofens = 1 scrip strength. Four o-t-c's every six hours. Screw the Tylenol unless you can't avoid it. It's literally toxic to your liver. Ibuprofen just rots your gut. Hammer the site topically with max strength OraGel.
Get after some Orange Juice to hold back the infection.
Cold early, heat late, just like a sports injury.
I don't offer this as medical advice. I offer it as the suggestions of one who has been on the mountain you're climbing. According to medical statistics, your pain is greater than that of childbirth or some surgeries. Kidney stones are said to be worse.
The trick is to get ahead of the pain and stay there.
You have my deepest sympathy.

10. I've been in your shoes, had an abscessed tooth and I recommend: |
|
Percogesic. But don't drive or operate machinery after you take it. Seriously.
I only use Percogesic for the really nasty pain, like an infected tooth (yes, I had to have a root canal, too), and for a piercing earache one time that came out of nowhere. I consider it my "emergency pain medicine."
Don't take Percogesic and Tylenol together, just to be on the safe side. Percogesic is an over-the-counter med but in some places you have to ask the pharmacist for it.
Best of luck.

It seems somewhat tolerable right now. I guess I have a high threshold for pain as I have taken 1 ibuprofen so far. Last night is when it hit me hard and I only had tylenol till this afternoon. I will probably take 2 ibuprofen before bed so I can get some sleep. I hardly got any sleep last night as it was so bad.
I also got some Orajel swabs which I have applied locally twice so far today. That seems to work for a short time.
I probably could up my dosage of ibuprofen but I have a dire hatred of pills and when they say only use 6 per day on the labels that makes me conserve. I guess its safe to take a little more than the label says??
This is so much fun. x(
