Maddy's Movie Rental Reviews (little commentary, and a final grade) |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 10:00 PM by Maddy McCall
The Exorcism of Emily Rose = A- (because that back contortion thing she did in the church was absolutely bone chilling. Think Law & Order blended with The Exorcist, and you have Emily Rose.)
Dark Water = C (When will movie PTBs realize that one "The Ring" was enough. All else are cheap imitations of a mediocre movie. I can't stand to watch dark movies that force me to adjust my brightness level on my TV.)
Bad News Bears = D- (Billy Bob. As Buttermaker. Actually he was ok, but the rest of the cast sucked. Even the kids. Yes, the kids sucked. Why, as of late, does Hollywood feel the need to fuck with perfection, and the 1970s Bad News Bears was arguably perfection.)
Odd Girl Out = C (A cheap imitation of Jawbreaker or Heathers, and only received a grade as high as C because we all like to see the Heathers get what they're due.)
Red Eye (Haven't watched it yet. 'L let you know what I think, after I watch it.)
Well, so much for my weekend B movie feast. What are you watching? Got an opinion on the movies I reviewed?

1. Only one on the list I've seen is Emily Rose, and I'd agree with you |
|
I might go slightly lower in rating because it kind of petered out in the last 1/2 hour or so, it just wasn't as exciting.
Overall I'd agree, the church and the scene in the barn both freaked me right the hell out.

4. I agree with you, too. |
|
It lost something in the final minutes. But when it was scary, it was VERY scary. The barn scene and her bedrooms scene--ooh, and when her guyfriend found her out of bed, bent into that strange configuration.
It was a good movie--better than I expected.

but if you missed it, both Kingdom of Heaven and the Upside of Anger were good
we like that new Batman movie too
Doncha just hate it when you get 4 movies and 3 of them stink?

10. I haven't been to see King Kong yet. |
|
Again, I saw the original in the 70s, and I just can't imagine it being better than the 70s version. Do you think it was any good?

how old is Jr? My nephews are 6 and 9. They did real well. BTW King Kong does not appear until about an hour into the film. They asked when they would see him but, the storyline held their attention fairly well...that and the
go and have fun :pals:

14. Saw Red Eye last weekend |
|
A good popcorn thriller. Rachel McAdams is good (and cute).
As for The Exorcism of Emily Rose, I found the courtroom scenes to be uninspiring. Though it's possible I was traumatized by Perry Mason as a child.
Tonight, I saw a Spanish film called Swindle. Nice, though I sussed out the twist ending before the end.
