For Sunday morning music, I chose Steve Reich's Tehillim and Desert Music
I just finished listening to the new release of Reich's "Tehillim" and "The Desert Music" performed by Ossia.

This is also the first release of The Desert Music with a chamber orchestra and small choir, instead of the full orchestra and full choir. I think it sounds better this way - the full orchestra loses the clarity of the music.

I was fortunate to hear this chamber version a few years ago at COlumbia University when the Eastman School Of Music performed it (along with Music for 18 Musicians - what a night!!!).

Great stuff!

The performance of Tehillim on this is also phenomenal. I prefer the original, but this is quite good; this one seems to grab some more emotion out of the music, but the original release seems cleaner and more, I don't know, determined is maybe the word. Or more caring of the music, perhaps. One of the two.
