The RetroLounge Daily Poem Thread (Sun 1/22/06)
Thursday

I have had my dream--like others--
and it has come to nothing, so that
I remain now carelessly
with feet planted on the ground
and look up at the sky--
feeling my clothes about me,
the weight of my body in my shoes,
the rim of my hat, air passing in and out
at my nose--and decide to dream no more.

William Carlos Williams

2. Ouch, that hurts.
Williams' plainness sure does pluck that raw nerve casually, doesn't it?

3. "...decide to dream no more." Well, then, my dear RL........
If you aren't going to dream, you might as well be dead....

To dream is to be alive, and to acknowledge your aliveness.....

It is like breathing! Essential ........

Interesting, provocative poem.....

Thank you...

4. I think we all have moments, days, times like that
The trick is to get through them and dream again.

5. Oooh, wow
Not to dream any more? How incredibly sad. I hope this is not the space you're in, RL. If it is, I hope you move past it soon.

6. what your molecules feel right now -- this minute
is the most you can feel ever -- a dream pales by comparison.

7. In moments like this poem reveals, it may be wise to fashion new dreams
and put the antiquated ones to rest.
