Anybody find they are getting re-billed for invoices already paid? |
|
This has been happening a lot more frequently lately. I will suddenly get a bill for something (medical payments - the worst, book clubs, etc.)that I paid a long time ago (usually 6 month to a year previously.) I sometimes feel that these organizatons are trying to make up for deadbeats by charging paying customers twice.
When I call to explain, they will either say "oh, yes it was an oversight, disregard the bill" or "I'm sorry, we have no record of payment" - a lot of times the bill are very low (especially w/ medical co-pays which I usually pay in cash.)
I think they just expect many people to pay for it, because they are sent so much later than the actual service, I think they count on people not remembering and just assuming that they must have forgotten to pay.
Anybody else finding this happening to them?

1. When I had my son - the hospital that I delivered at tried to double bill |
|
me. They sent one bill to my moms house (my old address) and another to my current address - same things listed on the invoice but different invoice number. I called them on it and I never heard back from them about it.

2. How slimy - I wonder if there is any legal action you can take |

against these organizations - It doesn't seem right that they should get away with doing this.

I notice they change the billing dates occasionally to screw you up.
