Here's what I want from lawsuit reporting in the media: |
|
Inspired by matcom's post about the woman suing because her son ate a sundae allegedly tainted with human blood.
Instead of reporting on these stories when the lawsuit comes out - which tends to make big news, but then rarely makes the news again when the lawsuit is settledd or thrown out of court - I suggest that reporters need to wait until the trial is done, and THEN report on it.
And if it's decided the lawsuit is spurious, the article can read "Greedy dimwitted fools lose again: another frivilous suit tossed out of court (or lost in court)". Then the article can tear the idiots a new asshole in the broadest generalizations possible about assholes with asshole claims.
And if a judgment is made, "Corporate malfeasance takes a hit: another company successfully sued for yet more corporate negligence". Then the article can rip the corporation apart in the broadest generalizations possible; and should also make sure to mention that this kind of malfeasance is made more likely, probable, and often under republican governments.
And then keep a running tally.
