My dog has bad breath
Not dog breath, bad breath. He's not eating well. I'm worried about his teeth, so I made a vet appointment. Poor old guy, I wish he could tell me what's going on.

1. My dog's breathe is bad sometimes. Not doggie breathe but
flat out stinky. The doc said it was normal for that to happen sometimes.

2. About 6-7 years ago he got breath so bad
I could smell it from across the room. I took him to the vet and he said the dogs teeth looked ok. Later on he rolled over with his mouth open and I saw something on the roof of his mouth. He liked to chew sticks outside, and a piece of one had become lodged across the roof of his mouth, where it was rotting away. Disgusting, but an easy fix. Breath went back to normal dog breath.

5. It is mostly a teeth or intestinal problem
when they have bad breathe. Glad you found it...could have been really serious

6. teeth cleaning is a racket!
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 02:49 PM by Rambis
There is a vet in MN that swears in 40 years he has maybe seen one death of an animal due to tooth decay and it results. He said it is a big racket for the vets to make money. Putting a dog or cat under to do this is far more dangerous according to him.

Here is his book- http://www.oldcountryvet.com/

What he saved my on heartworm meds in 6 months more than paid for this book. It is the same as horse dewormer and it is about 5 bucks for a years supply not 60+ heartguard charges.

10. My dog was too old to put undr for a cleaning and the reason why
she wasnt eating was due to dental pain. Vet found a great alternative.... Clinsol... its an oral anti biotic liquid. Used it 4 7 days. Cleared the dental pain right up. No side effects. Dog all peppy, now. And if dental pain recurs, I just have to resume treatment for another 7 days.

12. Glad they figured it out
He is talking about scamming people saying your dog/cat needs their teeth cleaned or it will cause all these problems etc etc.
