"Meh" comes from the same root as the words "mist" and "mistletoe." It is ultimately descended from the Proto-Indo-European root *meigh-, meaning "to urinate." Specifically, the suffixed zero-grade form *mightu-, which is attested in the Latinate mictuīre, meaning "to want to urinate."

So, when I say that today was meh, I mean that today made me have to pee.
